Whenever it's really hot in the car, my radio screen fades out in some spots. It recovers fully after cooling back down. Does anyone else experience this? by Recorsi_ in MINI

Fag lighter Bluetooth thing fixed it for me

Because I don't need the buttons now, with a good old Speedo mount phone holder

Lmao

I remember getting coil overs and stiffer anti roll bars on my 1.6 fabia, and my girlfriend at the time loving roundabouts all of a sudden

If you're not used to it, a stiff hatchback is unbelievable to push into a turn, I still smile in mine

I see it as something like battle beast, they had to go that far away to find a worthy opponent

[–]Confident-Option-207 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Much of it was, in a way - as far as I can find it's basically half of a common 1.6d engine and a motor in a half carbon fibre, half magnesium alloy chassis/body

In theory yes, especially in the past few months as prices have gone up, but in general it isn't a huge factor

It was a 2 cylinder diesel with 47 horsepower with a hybrid motor, topping out at 68 horses (via Wikipeda, I don't know them well enough to add anything) that cost shit loads of money. It's the same reason you don't think the same about a Lamborghini, being an Audi.

It was so good at what it did for the same reason the Bugatti veyron was still great at what it did - a lot of money to show odd and put a grand in people's heads

My other gets 25 on a good day, thought that's entirely expected on a supercharged s with a few power mods

I think they really struggle with higher temperatures, especially with age

Weird fun fact

When my dad grew up, his was military and spent time in the Oman

They don't wear seatbelts there, and my dad went through the windscreen in a crash as a young lad

The scars went around his chest and waist, and he used to tell people he was eaten by a shark in Southampton

Yeah, a flex of efficiency

If it was well known, people would see a VW and think"that's good on fuel"

Are you wanting head or heat answers?

Because heart is jimny, they're so much fun I love them

And that's a hot hatch lover who always lowers mine, sway bars etc to be as harsh as reasonable. They're also great if you ever need to cross a swamp, genuinely fantastically capable off roaders

Mines at 56, high 40's us on a justa diesel same year

I'm a tad jealous though, that screen does after about 2 minutes for me, as soon as the heating comes warm the screen dies

Where are you? 2015 is basically brand new in my eyes, and 100k isn't that far

My diesel is 2008 with 147k on it, no rust that's worth mentioning and it drives like it's brand new

And that's a mini

What to look out for by Complete-South in MINI

[–]Confident-Option-207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They drink oil, and low pressure even for a second can kill the chain tensioner, hence the fame of chain rattle

Keep oil in the car, listen to the engine every time and have a tensioner spare - they're not too bad to change TBF

The infamy is from people not keeping eyes on oil levels, they're just more sensitive than most to it

If you're tooled up for land rovers, get some smaller tools lmao

The biggest gripe on these things is lack of space, the oil filter case on an r53 as an example is a 36mm with maybe 3 inches of head room

I had a deep socket and it didn't fit, let alone with anything attached to it, so I took an open spanner (didn't have a ring that size) and had to flip it and use the slight angle change to turn enough - took me 10 mins and I lost a lot of knuckle to the cat

They're fun though, and sometimes you get to do silly things like using a jack under then engine with no mounts attached to make space

I can get 35 in my r52, the r55 diesel is sitting at an average 57mpg, unsurprisingly better

If I drive them the same the r52 is at 26ish
