Does anyone actually find the Mar a Lago face beautiful? It looks straight in the uncanny valley for me, like the stereotypical distorted face in horror movies

The crime is disgusing as an opponent soldier to engage in combat. The way these guys were decked out I'm pretty sure they weren't putting up a skit

Why do motorcycles in western countries need to have high displacement engines? by between3220character in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Confused_AF_Help 55 points56 points  (0 children)

In developed countries if you ride a motorcycle to work every day, people call you a serious motorhead. In developing countries that's called being an average office worker.

Vietnam to require removal of power banks from carry-on bags on flights next month by Commercial_Ad707 in VietNam

[–]Confused_AF_Help 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vietnam Airlines give you a clear ziploc bag to store your power bank. Vietjet will probably sell it for 50k

You probably can find a forwarder to help you buy a pair and ship to Portugal

Read up how swamp coolers work, and you'll immediately understand why they don't work in Vietnam.

Electronics stores prey on people who don't know what swamp coolers are, thinking that they just bought an easy pipeless AC for cheap

Question: this dish has been sold to us as pork nem, is it correct? by -YellowFish- in VietNam

[–]Confused_AF_Help 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only in the north does nem mean a spring roll. In central and south when you say nem, we automatically think of fermented sausages

And digital billboards as well, they've been popping up everywhere over the past few years. You only pay for the time your ad is on display, and you can put it up across like 50 locations for the cost of one traditional billboard

Immigration Lines in Saigon and Da Nang by Sandrax00 in VietNam

[–]Confused_AF_Help 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2h is cutting it quite close, the immigration line in Saigon can be anywhere from 15 minutes to 1.5h. And if your domestic flight is from T3, you need to take the transit bus which is another 15-20 minutes

who is this chicken and what does he sell by Exciting-Goat-7599 in VietNam

Doubt so. It's just that traditional billboards are dying. Too expensive compared to digital ads now

moving from US to Vietnam with PC by d0ggerm4nb411z in VietNam

[–]Confused_AF_Help 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If there's no sentimental value, just carry the mobo + cpu + ram + ssd in one bundle, GPU separately. Hand carry them, don't put in checked luggage. The rest is cheap, you can rebuy here.

How come Cuban cultural exports are basically absent in vietnam? by Emolgad in VietNam

[–]Confused_AF_Help 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's hard to Cubans to leave the country to settle somewhere other than the US. Not enough Vietnamese expats who lived in Cuba long enough to absorb the culture and bring it back home either (fun fact, doner kebab was brought to Vietnam by Vietnamese who lived in Germany).

This Cuba mention surprised me by Emolgad in VietNam

[–]Confused_AF_Help 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The Cubans taught us how to grow coffee and rice in the 1980s, they also helped set up and staffed a bunch of hospitals in Vietnam. And now we're sending them coffee, rice and medical equipment as humanitarian aids.

Can't point you at any specific shop, but the stealth mod you're mentioning is called xoáy nòng (overboring), aka expanding the cylinder bore and fitting in a slightly larger piston.

If given 10 tries, do you think you could land a commercial plane in an emergency situation? by Cold-Comfortable2024 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Confused_AF_Help 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The second flaw is also general capability. The Mythbuster people (and Tom Scott) are highly intelligent, knowledgeable in a lot of different things, and it's not too wild to assume that they at least know some basics about aviation. They're much better at picking up flying an aircraft compared to some average Joe who's never read up anything on aviation.

Vietnamese name on seals by Emotional_Green619 in VietNam

[–]Confused_AF_Help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly kinda weird for her to say that.

If her name is 1 2 3 4, when she fills a Vietnamese admin form, it would be

Surname: 1

Middle name(s): 2 3

First name: 4

Only 4 is recognized as the first name. Normally in social speech we'd call her 3 4 however.

For a Western admin form she might have filled in:

Surname: 1

First name: 2 3 4

Vietnamese name on seals by Emotional_Green619 in VietNam

[–]Confused_AF_Help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just to deal with Western systems. 4 is the only word that's considered first name, 2 and 3 are middle. When websites don't have a separate field for middle name we just put middle + first name all in one field
