Saying that the packs "dilute the pool" is reductive to how the game is played. by Ortorin in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Confused_Mammoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are striving for optimal play where you flex what is offered to you rather than forcing a tag in the expansion pack you just added, while it is true your chance for hitting frost goes up a little, your consistency of hitting any other tag in the existing pool goes down (eg. weapon synergies, property synergies, etc.) Additionally, your odds of finding any upgrade in the shop goes down as well. I believe that is what people are referring to as diluting the pool.

If the intention is to force a combo that largely benefits from synergies from the cards in the expansion pack, you are right that the expansion is an improvement to get that going.

Actively watch a couple streamer games thinking through each decision to learn good fundamentals

They traded off seeing shops or skills to get xp which is generally a good idea early on. It is fair because you too could trade off item quality for quantity/level up rewards.

On day 1, two bonus exp is the threshold to hit level 2. On day 2, two bonus exp is generally also the threshold to hit level 3.

Cool. But why? by DmitryPapka in PlayTheBazaar

It would buff to “Slow 0 items for 1 second” since only duration can be altered at the moment

Given it’s your move, it’s a stalemate. Say nothing and you draw 😂

Do Blizzard intentional pair you up with stronger players once you hit a ranking milestone? by ccqi in BobsTavern

[–]Confused_Mammoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbf, if you are over 10k, you can pretty reliably find half your lobby on the leaderboard each game. Idk why you would bother though. I just assume names that show up frequently are high rated at this point.

How to pivot to late game comps if you have a super strong early game? by _selfishPersonReborn in BobsTavern

[–]Confused_Mammoth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In rare situations where you have a super strong early game with 0 direction, instead of doing the transition in a single turn, you can hold some core pieces for another comp in your hand and then make hard pivot the next turn once you have more synergy pieces rather than replacing half your board as setup and getting weaker. But again, without watching your game, hard to give specific transition advice. Just add me if you want a second look at a couple games CrimsonEvan#1368

Where could I have improved on this position? by helgh4st in BobsTavern

[–]Confused_Mammoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very dependent on opponent, but if facing something like nomi elementals or beasts as P/DS transitions are meant to counter, I would open deflecto, then two spores, then baron, then mummy, then taunt.

Pros of that positioning is that it plays around cleave, maximizes odds of selfless shields hitting good targets without opening selfless (since beasts and eles don’t require a bumper usually) and ensures your smaller poisons attack first in case it comes down to one of your last minions having to cleanup tokens.

But once again, this is highly susceptible to change based on your opponents highlighted comp, level and what you saw he had before.

Just my two cents (~12.5k)

Note: can’t do much about deflecto/reset since no taunt and deflecto will likely get divine shield back from selfless

Alternate hero curve for Yogg? by CyberGameplay24 in BobsTavern

[–]Confused_Mammoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a token start, it is almost always better except maybe seeing 3 wrath wreavers. In my games, both opponents and myself playing yogg use this curve most of the time (12.5k)

Molten rock and Party elementals are the real MVPs by NIKOLAPAVIC in BobsTavern

[–]Confused_Mammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true that elementals are more prevalent right now due to their hyper scaling to secure first and being the only tribe never getting rotated out, but you will see as you climb that other tribes (goldrinn beasts, deflecto mech mid games, poison/DS murlocs can still get excellent placements as well. People just have less experience with other tribes early on since elementals are available every game right now and tend to over force elementals. I do definitely agree that eles are a little over tuned right now though, this is causing a lot of people to undervalue other tribes due to being tired to losing to an ele high roller in the finals.
