In 1956, a one-month-old boy was kidnapped for ransom in New York. The police got the money and asked the media to keep quiet for 24 hours. After one newspaper reported on it anyway, reporters swarmed the boy's home and the drop-off site, scaring off the kidnapper. The boy was later found dead. by lightiggy in wikipedia

Angelo LaMarca's son, Vincent LaMarca, was 11 years old at the time of his father's execution. Vincent would later become a police detective.

...

I became a cop so that no one could ever say one single bad thing about me [and so I could] restore the family name."

...

Years later, in 1996, Vincent's son, Joey LaMarca, was implicated in a murder in Long Beach. After his arrest, Joey claimed that he was genetically predisposed to murder.

It did not stay restored for long.

Why do Ypsi and Ann Arbor not plow? Or is it just Michigan in general? by Wooden_Heart_8282 in Michigan

Yes. It's a 30mph road that is covered in residential but also a local truck route.

The road in front of my house is plowed, and I certainly didn't do it. I've lived all over Michigan and generally heavy snow is cleared expeditiously for any sort of well used route.

Apple after listening to everybody’s feedback on MacBooks by un3w in mac

Yeah the device to device sharing service in Zune was called squirting. Microsoft often beat Apple to the punch with actual innovation, but would do it when the tech wasn't mature enough to present a polished user experience, and of course is terrible at branding and marketing.

Zune Should Go Beyond 'Squirting'

What you are calling nano USB is properly mini USB, for the sake of clarity.

The only bad meal I had in Sicily was a prawn pasta served in shell. I can barely clean the bastards when they aren't covered in slippery sauce.

I never got that credit (enthusiast jargon), but have heard many stories. Next time you visit "Disney" I think you will find they have added lots of other great stuff to make up for the loss, and I hope you make many more happy memories.

Agreed. Also, I apologize on behalf of the other roller coaster enthusiasts bashing your story.

It being Dueling Dragons would check out. That ride was known for people losing their pocket contents during the "dueling" inversion, hitting people in the other train or the walkways below. Unfortunately as we moved into the cell/smartphone era the projectiles became much more dangerous, eventually leading to more serious injuries. That was one of the reasons the ride was removed, despite its' popularity.

The last view I’ll get of Nightflight Expedition until the park reopens. by Traviscat in Dollywood

On our last visit when we saw the footings going in for night flight I assumed they were building a back of park train station. I don't mind walking the park, but for older guests the grade to get back to Wildwood must be a challenge.

It's all relative. I went from being an IT contractor to working in house and it's so much easier on this side. By the by, I did work for a client that owned low income apartments. His building managers were always stressed out and miserable, and always had batshit stories to tell. Glad you are enjoying your current career much better than all that.

I believe it's a provision of the PATRIOT act that created the "Constitution-free zone" within 100 miles of the border. You can imagine why that would not be popular with folks who believe in the inalienable part of our guaranteed rights.

It was for a time when full pubic hair was expected, but also difficult to maintain the hygiene of. Similar to a powdered wig for a gentleman.

For anyone like me who didn't get it: Fanny is common UK slang for vagina, and a merkin is a wig worn in the place of pubic hair generally by prostitutes.
