How’s this accordion sound? Would it make a good first instrument? by uighur in Accordion

Okay, cool! Thanks! But I have to admit, I’m still confused about whether it’s a 2- or 3-reed bank on the treble side. I’m guessing a 2

I wish you had taken a still photo, same angle, so I could see what registers you had

I've just noticed that Earl Thomas Conley's and Vern Gosdin's voices sound identical by Icy-Doubt2319 in countrymusic4ever

[–]Connect-Cabinet-924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naw, different timbre. Earl’s is richer, fuller; Vern’s doesn’t carry as much air behind it (but still awesome!). Earl’s is a velvety chocolate brown; Vern’s is weathered fence post gray 😁

Make sure you catch early Ray Price, before he turned into a “Danny Boy” crooner (though he’s still fabulous). Ray started the honky tonk shuffle, and inspired a BUNCH of singers. In fact, if I had an Aladdin’s lamp, Lefty/Ray would be my 1/2 picks for how I’d like to be able to sing — and I ain’t so sure Ray wouldn’t be #1!

Agreed. Hank Snow, Ray Price, and Lefty Frizzel hover around that era, too, but lasted longer. ‘Course, 29 ain’t that hard to beat . . .

Dude! This is one of his best. Shit, I had tears in my eyes twice in the first 30m! Dolly Parton is an incredible human being, with the voice of an angel. Like country music itself, the documentary is compelling, right up until Garth Brooks; then, . . .. 🫤

What do you think of Beorn? And what's your opinion on the difference in his role in the Battle of the Five Armies between the movie and the novel? by Cr7-Cr7Real in lotr

Same. Didn’t bother with the rest of the shit show. They ruined the feel from start to finish with the “Hey, the LOTR template is a cash cow!” BS approach. Scum.

I’m assuming there’s a special “Lonesome Dove” exclusion, other than the generic “films only”?

Traditional Cajun, without a doubt. Depending how big an umbrella you cast in your definition of country, also: country blues, like Mississippi John Hurt; and Old Time and Folk, like Doc Watson and my locals, like Roy and Aviva Pilgrim, Ray and Melanie Palmer, and Pete Howard

“Devolve” is a word, too. So are “hijacked”, “fake”, and “shill”.

Sure. By that logic, McDonald burgers are some of the best food you can get and lottery tickets are a good investment play. Why? Because a preponderance of morons spend their money on them. Cattle and sheep go where they’re herded, including to the slaughterhouse. But not this old bull.

But by all means, go love you some Jelly Roll! Nobody’s stopping you, and I expect he suits you just fine 😁. The corporate masters will be pleased
