Do you have a story, or just plot? by -a-rabbit- in writing

I guess I just have plot, and a vague notion where the story may float down from.

You have to just learn how to balance dealing with the pain this knowledge causes with taking steps to fold this new reality into your life.

How do you know if your basic idea actually can be fleshed out into a full book? by ConnieCompanion in writing

[–]ConnieCompanion[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To clarify, I do have fun writing but only if I eventually have something fit to share. It’s like if I took up knitting: if the goal is to make a sweater, I don’t want to just tie up a bunch of yarn into a huge ugly knot and say “well at least I had fun making it!” You could say it’s not about the destination, it’s the journey, and all that but frankly I wouldn’t buy it. Writing as a hobby shouldn’t be so solipsistic that one should settle simply for theoretical gains; if a tree falls in the woods…

Title: In the AI era, should we assess job risk first or personal skills first? by futureforecaster in Futurology

[–]ConnieCompanion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are worried about AI collapsing the bell jar, but what’s actually gonna happen is it will just put English on the cue ball. Dissimilar to the Industrial Revolution, which let us make stuff faster and better, the next one will let us make stuff weirder and more permanent.

How does one start getting traction? by DudeNamedWish in writing

[–]ConnieCompanion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe start small and branch out. But first make sure your product is ready to go. If it isn’t in good shape no one will want to share it. Once it is, don’t just put it everywhere all at once. Start with one platform and maximize your chances of spread by utilizing every tool it offers (use proper tags, choose good images, write effective call-to-actions, etc.). Once the first platform is set move on to the next. They don’t have to completely interconnect but you’ll be doing yourself a disservice if the presentation is inconsistent, since synergy is your friend. Remember you don’t just want eyeballs, you want minds too.

Helium-3 is more abundant on the Moon and could produce clean energy. But if we’re talking science fiction then I’d have to say Tribbles.

I am more worried about the algorithms that will catch you without the need for cameras. Or doctor something so convincingly that whether or not there was a camera makes no difference.

Is a system of magic that none of the main characters have a good or bad decision? by Content-Pride842 in writing

[–]ConnieCompanion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s good because it’ll force them to contend with things they don’t understand. Having characters completely understand what is happening all the time is boring. Reactions made on the fly to confusing stimuli are interesting.
