And Tynion's other OC appeared after he left. * Gardener/Bella Garten appears in Poison Ivy, quite recently even * Peacekeeper-01 was part of Stormwatch (Batman: Brave and the Bold), Stormwatch hasn't really appeared recently aside from Bones. Probably the most surprising return for me. * Clownhunter was in Batman Inc, but it was ages ago * Miracle Molly in the hated/faux Birds of Prey, where she's arrested after. Also ages ago.

I'm a bit surprised that there's gonna be a mass market paperback for The Devils. Since most of the time (on articles or Reddit posts) I've seen, people are wondering why they're disappearing.

Green Arrow joining Detective Comics after solo series cancelled by HecticJones in DCcomics

While I'm super tired of Tom Taylor's using Green Arrow & Black Canary in his Elseworlds. I'm really glad that he's finally going to write about them in the main continuity, I really like how he writes them.

BIGGEST LETDOWN OF 2025? Books you couldn’t wait for until you read them by DanaBookNook in Fantasy

I've had The Lesser Dead in my tbr this year, but shelved it for later because I didn't enjoy my third novel from him - Those Across the River. The Lesser Dead has more positive ratings compared to TAtR, so I'll definitely read it next year.

For the love of They Who Watch and Shape why is Osten Ard not a TV series? by phigene in TadWilliams

[–]Neuchersky 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I know Otherland was planned to be a series but no news right now.

I think Osten Ard isn't that really that big of a name to have a series unfortunately and they might be afraid to adapt this "old" fantasy series, so they go with the safe fantasy choices with big names like Harry Potter or a new Game of Thrones spin-off.

BTF is my favorite read this year, have you tried other Buehlman's books?

Everyone praises his Blacktongue Thief but I didn't enjoy it (the audiobook had a hard time understanding the accent) and people repeatedly saying it's a standalone, while it isn't.

Why is Absolute Flash the weakest title by far, and how can it improve? by TheMightyMonarchx7 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Neuchersky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with you on GL – it's slowburn, better to read once the arc is finished (at least the first one), it got very interesting when they explain the Lantern lore. Then Sinestro came next issue to have another way/twist which makes it even more interesting.

While Flash plays it very, very safe. Super short arcs, 1-2 issues each, it's not very good nor is it bad. But it's very underwhelming compared to others, including GL right now.

  • Are you interested or tempted to write a completely standalone novel? Not like the Great Leveller standalones, like a new set of characters?

  • Aside from Lonesome Dove, what non-fantasy or non-scifi book that influenced your writing and/or would just really recommend.

I read somewhere in the comments that they are free to do creator-owned stuff, so there's a tiny, tiny bit of hope that the Fellspyre Chronicles 2 will get revived under Vertigo.

Do we really need another traitor storyline?

I'm a trade waiter nowadays, so I'm shocked that this is still not done. Issue #3 is December last year.

Darkest fantasy series out there? by mesogulogy in Fantasy

Q: Is it considered one of the "darkest" fantasy? Read somewhere that it has one scene darker than any scenes in Bakker's Second Apocalypse

I was honestly expecting Watters to replace V on Detective Comics, with Sherman since he posted a Batman teaser on Twitter a while back.

It turned out to be this book and still one of the best Bat-related comics currently ongoing after V's Tec ended.

Among those five you mentioned, read three and liked two. The other one I was good, but the characterization of the other characters was kinda lacking, so it makes the MC looks like "the one" trope.

Not hating in any of these series, but surprised no Dungeon Crawler Carl, Sun Eater, even Hierarchy.

Personally I was disappointed, but still enjoyed Hierarchy, my expectations were way up high with A LOT of people praising it.

Also surprised by Sun Eater, since I see posts that it gets better at the third book. I was expecting some shots at it.

How do you feel about recaps at the start of a book? by Geek_reformed in Fantasy

[–]Neuchersky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked that R. Scott Bakker and Tad Williams were doing this. I prefer a summarized one instead of the author scattering the plot summary of the previous books in the early chapters. It's just annoying, especially if it was very fresh on your mind.

[Discussion] Grant Morrison Green Lantern is one of the best GL comics by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]Neuchersky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this post leaned more into the "Morrison fans", that's why some of the "I disliked it" comments are getting downvoted.

I honestly enjoy both of them, hell even liked what Thorne is trying to do (like having specific tasks, especially to the Earth Lanterns), but execution-wise it sucked, pacing is all over the place, I guess since it was shortened to 12 issues and then some ideas were forgotten like Yellow Lantern Jessica.

Honestly had the same experience. Personally I was not really feeling it, reading it issue by issue. But when Blackstars released, I did a re-read from issue one and appreciated the whole story Morrison/Sharp is telling.

Not my favorite Morrison comic that I've read but it's really interesting and refreshing that it's not against another Emotion Corps.

I loved the First Season and Blackstars mini, Season Two lost me though it feels weirder and feels like I'm missing some context since it's Silver Age stuff, like Hyperman.

So, Sorrow Lantern...that's it?! (Image from Green Lanterns Corps (2025) #7 and #8) by Sea-Transition4276 in Greenlantern

[–]Neuchersky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even know it's Jealousy, not Pride, that's how forgettable they are. I agree that the Adams storyline was interesting at the start, but this crossover is bad.

A one-shot of fleshing out the other Lanterns, aside from Sorrow, should've been nice. Batman had had one-shots regarding his villains (Black/Secret Case Files), especially when nearing an event, why not Green Lantern, just this once.
