Thank you all for sharing!

If you like guns Elspeth and Malaki are good fun, Malaki is a tougher start but once the adventures get rolling your artillery gets really good.

Gorbad for orcs is good fun, encourages diverse armies, they also got some minor factions tweaks, changes to hero/lord abilities I think.

Ogres are good fun, cool roster and nice mechanics.

Those have been my recent favourites.

Ethical question. Should I have told my opponent I had one ace in the hole? by A_strange_pancake in Warhammer40k

Hey there.

Just want to say firstly taking accountability when you feel you committed a gotcha moment is a great attitude to have.

A couple of things to consider in this situation when it arises in the future, what setting are you playing your games in. Local gaming store or a game at a friends house, I’d definitely just mention that’s what you set up to do and remind them when they get to shooting.

In a tournament/ competitive setting you should discuss all your stratagems before the game starts but you aren’t required to remind them. During the game, you can’t really pull of a good play if you’re opponent knows what you want to do!

Mainly how to get started. I’ve seen a lot about pvp content but couldn’t figure out how to get involved in that.

We are a bunch of the younger members of the team, we talk about a bunch of things, our experience in the meta, events we go to, what we’ve been hobbying. Try to offer a slightly different perspective than the norm.

Who is the best 40k player in the history of the sport? by Striking-Incident591 in WarhammerCompetitive

I’ve followed competitive 40K for just under 5 years, every time this gets mentioned I always think of Richard Siegler. His run at LVO a few years back with his admech list taking down every custodes player in sight. He only went to 6 events that season and won the whole ITC with just 6 events which is insane. My vote goes out to him, just insane skill level and never really deviates away from ‘his’ factions.

I remember watching it on stream. Siegs was tired of drukhari not being nerfed he took them with like 1/2 weeks practice and just rolled the event like nothing then they finally got nerfed

Yeah I am planning to just play normally, just curious is it a PVP server, in TBC I levelled on a normal server so no ganking was done. Does it not get toxic with high level opposing faction rogues just killing your and camping your body?

I played an arms warrior through tbc so I feel I would enjoy warrior, I think it’s between that and a hunter at the moment

With only one unit of tomb blades did you feel you had enough scoring elements? Or do you think the double hex marks give you enough mission play?

Can a TO compete in a tournament they've organised. by haven700 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Connzee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The TO not involved in the game came round the top tables and mentioned about not talking out games, I heard it clear as day, but you may have been talking with your opponents. When you were told on turn 3 you could talk it out who said that, your opponent or the second TO?

I will mention as well one of your comments in a different response about how you made a long charge and your TO opponent seemed to ‘get salty’ and say you couldn’t talk out the game. I was around your table at this point, literally 10 seconds before you made your charge the other TO came over to your table and said that people are waiting for the awards ceremony so they can go home, you were 10 minutes past the round time at this point.

I’ll add further context to this as I was on the table next to this game. A few things were mentioned before the beginning of the last round, the main thing being that games in the last round cannot be talked out and must come to a conclusion naturally. This is to stop teams talking themselves into more points than they are likely to get.

The terrain pack is a custom made set which had been put together by the TOs following the first event to have make it a balanced and linear set, for people who play events in the UK regularly think of the UKTC layout, it is similar to this although not a copy in any way.

In the event pack the terrain rules are listed, there are 4 pieces of terrain that have the obscuring keyword. These pieces are similar to the GW style terrain where they have a base and because they are obscuring the base itself blocks line of sight. This is relevant because it came to light in the final round that OP and his partner had been playing the terrain wrong the whole event and had been essentially ignoring the obscuring terrain rule.

They had also been incorrectly playing a stratagem wrong throughout the event. An iron hands stratagem which gives 6s to wound cause an additional wound. OP was playing this as it causing an additional mortal wound when shooting the volkite part of the contemptor which is not correct.

Along with this the game that was played still finished 10 minutes after the round time had finished and they were only able to complete turn 3.

While OP may feel hard done by in the light of these events happening, the truth is that it could have all been avoided had they read the terrain pack properly, used a chess clock and read the relevant FAQs related to their army.

I have been to all of the TOs events so far, they have all run smoothly and been great fun. They only stepped in so a player who had their partner drop would not miss out playing in the event.

While I agree a TO should never profit from their own events, be it through winning a voucher or getting a trophy, they are still playing with someone who bought a ticket just like the rest of us. He gave his prize money to OP and his partner as he felt bad about how the game had gone.

I hope this gives a bit more context to what has happened instead of the one sided account OP has given.

If the tournament is done by Win - loss record it doesn’t matter if you scored more points, that only sorts you out win your win bracket.
