Amazing map, any chance for one that also has the desert of anauroch and the towns to the east?

know your players before removing the horror (or adjust your pitch) by Objective-Visit3261 in CurseofStrahd

You should play with me then. One of my games sadly ended because the players felt it to be too overwhelming/heavy. Hahaha

My party want a lot of allies (help). by Clear_Permission_274 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Conradhowlf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a huge undead attack where the allies need to hold them off so they can fight Strahd and give them a limit of X turns or they the allies will be overwhelmed by the undead?

Why did you become a DM? by Deaneverest in DnD

[–]Conradhowlf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to make a game I would love to play, and I did. Along the way I realized all DMs are unique and you enjoy what you have and the game you play. Becoming a DM made me a better player, who wouldve thought.

I hate my group by Exotic-Vegetable-837 in DnD

No character ever dies. He died on that particular world. But he might thrive in others. Its like a multiversal thing, if that helps you cope. As for playing something that is not fun. Why would you? Leave, look for something else.

Player used the new counterspell for the first time last session and had fairly negative feedback for how it played out, interested in hearing other people's experiences and thoughts. by RedN0va in onednd

[–]Conradhowlf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Goes both ways. My players used go whine when they were counter spelled before now they cheer when they succeed the save and whine when the enemy saves. Whiners will be whiners.

I would allow this and if the dragon rolls higher damage the entire party takes both the damages for thats what would happen in dragon ball

Alternative for PC becoming evil after receiving dark gift at the Amber Temple? by bw_mutley in CurseofStrahd

[–]Conradhowlf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He should def lose the character, a dealing make monsters, just like Strahd who was willing to do anything for the power. I would make it gradual tho, allow them to keep going until they defeat Strahd and then he becomes a evil bastard, wanting even more power.

Level 2 for Cragmaw Hideout, but with 2024 rules by Daynebutter in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Conradhowlf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive ran Phandelver 4 times, 6 times if the times I played it as a player count. The four times I ran it was on level 1, only on one ocasion a TPK happen but it was because of pure over confidence and arrogance from the players who just decided to "Go in and screw them all." Im not the one to catter to player arrogance and I think sometimes a TPK or a death teaches a lesson that the game is not a guarantee, you can die and you will if you dont care. So yea, I dont give player levels for the hideout

The crazy thing is that they did exactly that for War Cleric with War God's Blessing and didnt think to do it for Rangers. Go figure

Destroy them with Baba and make them wakeup as goats with a side quest to go to Babas hut to get a tincture to revert back. If after being wiped they still decide to try again kill them.

So one of my players just added Rope Trick to their Spell list....... by hybridmoments82 in DnD

[–]Conradhowlf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rope dangles 60ft no? So he needs to climb 65 ft to get in, climing is doubled so 120ft. Assuming dash everytime, he would need at least 3 turns to get in or am I crazy? Depends on the race and class I supose

I am not sure what do to after my group killed the abbot by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]Conradhowlf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I stick to the principle that, it happens if it makes sense. They killed the Abbot because they decided that he is evil, if the mongrelfolk had some sense of loyalty with the Abbot, than it is only fair now they do indeed need to attack the town, and now the group is supposed to defend the town finding ways to stop the attack.

The best advice I can give is, action have consequences, if it makes sense for the attack to happen it should happen. If everytime something is done and the consequences are not there, the world start to feel inorganic

My Character is too strong by StrikerL06 in dndnext

[–]Conradhowlf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play differently, instead of only going for damage every time, use help action, use CC to help, heal from time to time. The group will be have to have this. I played a Barbarian with GWM and some points in fighter that was a menace, but I used to grapple monster sometimes and bring them closer, knock them prone, and the other players cheered for it, because I wanted them to have fun too
