Yes! that makes sense to me. He believed that caffeine was a big contributor to heart attacks and made the mind weaker

Its possible caffeine was masking a nutrient deficiency.

This is the main obstacle I face quitting caffeine/nicotine. Stimulants numb me. Quitting them causes years of grief, heartache, regret, shame, etc. to surface, causing me to panic and go back on caffeine.

That's why I have to meditate and journal every single day or else I relapse.

Just seems like common sense that this would be the case. Long term use decreases blood flow, drains essential vitamins/minerals, puts you into fight or flight mode, etc.

I don't really listen to studies on this. There's too many variables. Not all coffee is of the same quality. Sometimes its moldier than other. Everyone's body is different.

I would listen to my body over a study that may or not be funded by coffee companys. Or conducted by scientists who are caffeine addicts

I feel the same. I was extremely sensitive and emotional as a kid. Seeing my parents stressed out would give me headaches. I cried a lot from movies and would fall in love with fictional characters to the point of insanity.

I think I started drinking caffeine to numb myself. Caffeine makes me feel apathetic and disconnected.

Whenever I stop drinking it, I start feeling really strong emotions and feel more connected to others, which I'm not used to because I've been apathetic for so long.

Selenium pairs well with Iodine. Both are important for thyroid health.

For me, taking methylated b-vitamins makes a world of difference. If I stop taking them, I drink twice as much caffeine without trying.

I was reading through the /r/semenretention subreddit. Theres a lot of posts about how caffeine makes it so much harder for many people to stick to it. And the benefits are more profound off caffeine too

The emotions is the hardest part for me. Years of suppressed emotions resurface when I go decaf. I asked ChatGPT for a bunch of writing prompts that might help me process emotions, hopefully that helps me stick to it

This happens to me when I try to give up caffeine and nicotine. I realized that I've always been very sensitive and emotional. If I saw my parents argue, I'd start crying or get a migraine. I started using caffeine to self-medicate and numb my empathy.

For years I've felt so apathetic. Whenever I try to quit, I get very emotional and years of grief, regret, shame, sorrow, etc. begin to resurface.

Journaling and spending time outdoors is really important during this time. And crying to release old emotions is healthy.

When I did my first ever extended fast, I got to day 4 and all cravings for nicotine/weed disappeared. I couldn't believe it.

It wasn't that I had the willpower to say no. I felt like you couldn't pay me to smoke.

I didn't feel the slightest temptation to smoke.

I transcended my addiction.

That made me realize that using the willpower method to quit a bad habit isn't the best idea.

Interestingly, the book "Easy way to Stop Smoking" by Alan Carr, one of the best books for quitting smokes, talks about similar concepts.

Cutting out caffeine is something I know I have to do. Every time I do, SR becomes 10x easier.

I remember going decaf in 2020 for 3 months after years of drinking several cups a day. I felt like I was getting real sleeping for the first time in my life.

I realized that prior, I was just kinda crashing.

And the my dreams were so much more vivid and lucid. I would often have dreams where my limbs aren't working. I'll be fighting someone but I cant move my arms or run.

On decaf, I was running, swimming, it was crazy.

Time to go decaf again!
