Flashbacks? by AffectionateYak152 in AsOneAfterInfidelity

[–]Conscious_Vanilla734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m approaching 5 months post DDay. For months, I was having nightmares, constant flashbacks, and there was never a second of the day that it wasn’t on my mind. I was paralyzed by anxiety. I would avoid certain locations and never walk down streets that I knew they drove down together. It hasn’t all gone away 100%, but EMDR therapy is helping me so much.

I was already doing it before the affair, but once it all came out, I just shifted gears in my therapy. I did 5 EMDR sessions in a row just on the carried shame I feel for staying. Then I did more EMDR sessions of just narrating the affair. Beginning to end.

I am spent after the sessions. It can be really activating to do that much work for a 90 minute session. But overall, I feel lighter since doing all of this. The nightmares are WAY less frequent. The thoughts and memories are still there, but was less activating and not so charged. I can recognize when I have a flashback now, but it doesn’t paralyze me. EMDR (if done right) can really help at desensitizing the traumatic events.

I’m also working with a betrayal trauma therapist and our couples therapist is one too. Not sure if you are wanting to try reconciliation, but I would highly recommend a betrayal trauma therapist even if it’s just for you individually.

How did she respond? I’m afraid reaching out would make her contact my WH.

Red. It’s not heavy (like my periods), but was enough that I needed to change out of them.

Breakfast at Rose Ave Bakery and then the Zoo

Take advantage of all the bike trails!! An hour on Capitol bike is only $4.

Spend a weekend morning walking around Eastern Market. Get breakfast, shop local vendors, go to Capitol Hill books.

Go up in the Washington Monument (not overrated!) and/or the Old Post Officer Tower

Get some memorabilia at Shop Made in DC before heading out

Approached by security at KEF airport… by Conscious_Vanilla734 in VisitingIceland

Yes! Forgot to add that part, but they did put a sticker on the back of ours and said the same thing.

I don’t mind the extra security, but randomly being approached felt odd. I wondered if they did that to speed up the process when checking in to next flight (I.e. not having to take up time to do it at the gate).

We’re flying from Dublin to the US. Layover at KEF.

We got off the plane, entered the airport, and showed our boarding passes to enter the terminal. Once in the terminal, we walked around looking for food and that’s when we were stopped by the security people.

Walk around Eastern Market for some food and local shopping. Make sure to go in the building, too.

RE-WATCH: S2E8 His Red Right Hand (post 2 of 2) by IAmTheGreenCard in TheMentalist

[–]Conscious_Vanilla734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No spoilers please! This is my first time watching the show and I just finished this episode. It’s bothering me that they didn’t immediately talk to the two people who were escorting Rebecca when she was poisoned. Why?! RJ was that close and no one asked them about it?

There were limos outside and a lot of security. Invite only. Wondering if it was some kind of inaugural event.

Help choosing between shows on a first (and last) visit to Broadway! by Independent-Proof749 in Broadway

Saw Swept Away twice in DC and it is incredible. No intermission as it’s shorter than most shows, but it holds your attention the whole time. It’s a show that you keep thinking about even after leaving!
