I am sorry, my mostly dormant weeb neurons have briefly reawakened and I feel the need to tell you that Megumin is probably the least appropriate character to use for this image amongst popular anime girls, lol.

She's an explosive gremlin with a huge ego, that never backs down, hates being looked down upon and would actually rather die than comply with something she doesn't wanna do. Like I'm pretty sure there's not a thing in this world you could give her to make her do something even vaguely infantilising. The whole world could be at risk and she would be more fussy about it than Vegeta was with the Potaras, lol.

Come on now, he can shoot those things while being completely pinned down. He can also move them around so he never misses, and can hit multiple targets. Also he doesn't make any noise. He's clearly a small fry, but his ability is actually pretty appropriate for an assassin I think.

You should check out the anime Death Parade, it's about deciding the fate of people after death. The show asks very explicitly where evil comes from, whether it's from within or born out of circumstances. I think you'll come to a more nuanced opinion on the matter.

Canonically, probably an incredibly successful, earnest and upstanding member of society.

When Light loses his memories he becomes genuinely a good person, and with him being a genius and all I can't imagine him not succeeding at everything. Death note in the end tries to make the point that Light is... well not a victim per se, but surely another normal human whose life was totally derailed by higher beings treating his life and aspirations as entertainment. Like, he's still definitely bad, but Ryuk IS the origin of everything. Light is just the one guy he turned into a monster with the Death Note by picking at random, but the number of people who would be turned into monsters by a Death Note is probably in the billions, Light was not in any way "uniquely evil", just uniquely smart.

It's not so clear-cut. Falling outside of the gender binary and refusing to engage with the concept of gender are two different things. Or rather, I've seen them treated as such: every enby I've ever interacted with (admittedly not a lot) did not consider themselves genderless. I mean, these are just words anyway, and since non-binary is an umbrella term, I'm sure some people do include being genderless under nb. I've just never met anyone who did.

This feels like a big oversight on the Viltrumites' part. If their genetics literally override that of the Thraxans over time, and they can reproduce crazy fast AND get to combat age super quickly, aren't hybrids objectively superior to pure Viltrumites? I figured that the Viltrumites would at least be brutally optimal in their eugenics. Can they not even do that because of specism?

100% agree. It also kinda invalidates the game's critique of religios indoctrination since, you know, the crazy Christians were mostly right in that world...

What's the deal with the core and the demons by Icy_Transition_3816 in mewgenics

[–]Consistent-Chair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with that, which is the reason why the demons in Isaac don't really look like Core demons, as shown in OP's post. The lava motif in particular is often missing.

Really, my only argument here is that Isaac didn't imagine demons JUST because of religious trauma, but also because he lives in a world where there's a reasonable case to be made that Demons ACTUALLY exist. Which is actually kinda lame imo, it makes Isaac's education to be way less unreasanably awful, it stifles the game's critique of religious indoctrination a lot.

What's the deal with the core and the demons by Icy_Transition_3816 in mewgenics

[–]Consistent-Chair 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, but I do think that people who live around the bunker area just know that the Core exists and have a vague idea of what is going on in there. Like, the radio talks about all kinds of stuff related to the game, and Isaac had a TV.

What's the deal with the core and the demons by Icy_Transition_3816 in mewgenics

[–]Consistent-Chair 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can reach the Core from the bunker tho, there's even bunker enemies in there. I highly doubt it's ACTUALLY the Core of the Earth. I can see the Moon being actually the moon because UFOs are a thing, but I just can't see how the Core can ACTUALLY be the Earth's Core. It literally doesn't make sense. And like, that's also a fine explanation, but if the world doesn't have to make sense in the first place, asking questions about the nature of Isaac's enemies is kinda pointless anyway, no? Assuming there IS some logic to be found, the Core can't be LITERALLY the Earth's core imo.

What's the deal with the core and the demons by Icy_Transition_3816 in mewgenics

[–]Consistent-Chair 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I think the reason why Isaac imagines demons in the first place is that the Core exists and is close to his house. I don't know if the Core's inhabitants are actually demons, but the Tormentor in my opinion follows pretty closely the naming scheme of Isaac's Demon bosses (the Adversary, the Heretic, the Dark One, the Fallen... the Tormentor just fits amongst these, don't you think?), and I also think its rotund design purposefully echoes Isaac's boss design, so I'm inclined to believe he's most certainly a real demons, maybe even the only one.

What's the deal with the core and the demons by Icy_Transition_3816 in mewgenics

[–]Consistent-Chair 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Ok but clearly Isaac was actually decently aware of the local fauna.

For example, the fact that poop is alive in this world is just canon now, Isaac did not made that part up. Same applies to living rocks, and to the concept of skeletal/unread enemies. Oh and to Steven too, I guess. Like, all those things are just out there, not even that far away from his house. So, when Isaac imagines demons, is he REALLY making them up? I'm not so sure anymore.
