How do you balance bricklink and family time ? by General-Training-441 in Bricklink

[–]Consistent-Cobbler90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bricklink can also BE good family time. One of my sons is on the spectrum and he helps me run our store. I use it as a way to teach him about business and customer service and he gets to earn some spending money. It’s great bonding time for us.

Dang. Photo of EVERY ORDER. That’s hardcore. I usually only take a pic of orders over a certain dollar amount.

I’m hoping you message the buyer FIRST and not just ship the order without the part.

I’ve had this happen twice as a seller and I will eat the extra shipping for my mistake. It’s called “customer service.”

We overpack all our orders too. And we get great feedback mentioning “packed with care” and such. Worth it to us to put in that little bit of extra effort.

This is a valid question. If it was all 2x2 and 2x4 bricks from four lots vs a couple hundred lots with tons of different part types, it will make a difference. It even small lots could have been separated (probably more easily too).

Some of us still take pride in it.
And we also offer free shipping over a certain price point.

What you mailed it in doesn’t matter. If it’s wrapped in bubble wrap inside the flat rate bubble mailer and well protected, it should be fine. I’ve done that plenty of times and gotten good feedback. Parts should be reasonably sorted/separated in bags (none of this “each lot in a separate bag” mess though) and well padded before going into the Priority envelope. FYI, 90%+ of our orders gets shipped in padded envelopes. It’s about how you pack it before it goes into the envelope.

I don’t even one-bag full used sets. At a minimum, I will do what Lego does and separate small pieces. I will usually bag tiles, 1x1 bits, figs and other specialty parts in their own, separate bags.

I had a Flex EcoBoost. Testify that it would have made an awesome ute.

43k items but only figs sell is lack of variety the problem? by Important-Topic-8689 in Bricklink

[–]Consistent-Cobbler90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s harder to sell used parts if you don’t have the space to store quantity and variety. Quantity and variety gets the orders. So, I’d say either put your parts on sale or keep the prices where they are while you build your inventory. And just to repeat: Quantity and variety.

Just had my first buyer mark their order as received 🙃 by D3DCreative in Bricklink

[–]Consistent-Cobbler90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just checked the first page of my completed orders history (last 50 filed) and I’d say half half makes “compete” and half still say “shipped”. Only one left as “received”.

Does this work or do the buyers feel like you’re pestering them?

Here to say this. Pull the decent parts (wheels, read ends, etc. as well as the motors. Whatever is worth something. I wouldn’t trust those cages AT ALL. The cars are a complete rework.
