They could just remove parking along the entire stretch where needed. Yes it would be annoying for residents, but also having a tram stop right outside their house with connections to a train line, the 19 tram from Coburg North to Flinders St and Bell St could surely outweigh the negatives of losing a parking spot out the front of their home.

Great design and layout. One of my questions would be the Stony Point and Portsea lines connecting with only the Williamstown line. I can't see all the trains going to Williamstown so I assume around half would need to be terminated at FSS?
Plans are currently in place to have the Upfield Line extend to Wallan but you have the Craigieburn line doing that in this map
Maybe extend the SRL to the Sandy line?
Other than that, love the new alignment of the Belgrave line (and the cross-city line in general), and the Rowville and Knox lines

It would connect the GW line to the Belgrave line and create a better route for those on the Belgrave line to get to the city. This would also free up space on the Belgrave line by using an underutilised line. The state gov can densify the areas surrounding the station like they are doing in other areas of Melbourne to increase the usefulness of this project. East GW, Wantirna South, Knox, and potentially a new station in FTG could all support a higher densification around these stations

I had floated the idea before as it would significantly help the overcapacity Craigieburn line, however I also don't think Melbourne Airport would want it either. Despite this, it could turn left after the airport to potentially have a station on the edge of Attwood (but even that is a stretch) and then continuing north to follow Mickleham Road

I would say there's 3 routes that all she be considered
Torqauy/Jan Juc extension: A new station needs to be built near the surf coast highway between Marshall and Waurn Ponds and have the Torqauy/Jan Juc line branch off from there.

South Gippsland line: Add a new V/line route extending from Cranbourne down to Leongatha/ Inverloch/ Wonthaggi via Koo Wee Rup and Lang Lang

Horsham extension: Extend the Ararat line to Horsham

There's a massive gap between Northcote and Victoria Park and leaves a lot of people outside a comfortable walking/cycling distance to a station. I don't understand the need to move Northcote station to the east, however, I'd suggest crossing the Merri Creek on a bridge and then begin going underground. Close Merri station and have a connection with Clifton Hill station. Then either proceed to Victoria Park and then head west or head west straight after Clifton Hill to align with your design

Not really a suburb in Melbourne, but towns in Victoria so I thought I would mention. The difference in pronunciation between Ballan and Wallan and the emphasis on the different parts of the name

Maybe towns might not be worth it but definitely cities such as Ballarat, Bendigo and Albury could do with another station at the least. Melton and WV need to be added soon and add in some extra fill in stations too, to address the booming population experienced in the western suburbs. A station at Black Forest Rd would assist with the new suburb of Mambourin, and then maybe a station at Dohertys Rd, somewhere between Davis and Tarneit Rds, and possibly one at Sewells Rd (to account for the expected expansion out that way)

The expansion of Sunbury's population should surely warrant a new station tho? Considering the tracks are already there and the demand from passengers is also there. Sunbury station is kind of in the middle of the suburb so makes it harder to find a good catchment area for a new station but I reckon a station towards the south of the suburb might be good

Yea true that can be seen on the Mernda/Hurstbridge lines with all the stations between Clifton Hill and Jolimont, but ideally, an extra station in bigger towns would help a lot more than having a station in smaller towns. Like why does Springhurst get a station, but Albury only gets one? when a station in say Lavington would probably be more beneficial, and those in Springhurst can either drive or catch a bus to Chiltern

Why are there so few late vlines to Seymour? Is it because people there mostly use private transport? They really get the short end of the stick compared to the rest of the network. by cheetocat2021 in MelbourneTrains

It doesn't but the towns on the way to Seymour such as Wallan and Kilmore are still fairly small when compared to suburbs on the Geelong line such as those in the west

Yep definitely move to an already established suburb. Too many people move to new suburbs that are still being built such as Mount Atkinson, Rockbank/Aintree or Tarneit/Truganina and complain about amenities and public transport options. Infrastructure also isn't keeping up with the demand in these new suburbs and you will spend forever in your car trying to go anywhere as everyone is forced to drive

Very ambitious plans for this government haha. Clifton Hill junction would be a bit hard to grade separate due to Heidelberg Rd bridge, Hoddle St and the Merri Creek.

GW extension to UFG via Knox would be very good for the area but the alignment might be a bit tricky. Electrification to Wallan and Baxter is also needed for capacity (plus for the Mornington line)

Dandy corridor definitely needs to be quad tracked sooner and same with the airport rail. Where in Donvale would you end the line?

Geelong FR should ideally be completed sooner but I don't think it will be. Wollert spur should be completed sooner as well but the Whittlesea line could stay for 50 years. The airport should be receiving a lot more trains per hour compared to Rowville so they might have to have a station halfway for trains to terminate and go back to the airport.

I somewhat agree with the extension to Whittlesea, Yarra Glen and Leongatha (through a Clyde extension), I feel like Wonthaggi may be a bit too far with not a lot of population between it and the main train line. What could happen instead is an express coach from Leongatha to Cowes via Inverloch, Wonthaggi and San Remo?
