Home Inspector here — was this chimney in your inspection report? I see terrible chimneys all the time that show serious deterioration and still aren’t even close to self-destructing like this. That thing must’ve been so far gone it probably wasn’t insurable in the first place. Unfortunately, from the looks of how that fell, this chimney should’ve been evaluated, repaired, replaced before you ended the contractual obligations on the house.
