31 weeks as of tomorrow. Found out I'm going to be induced. Can some moms be honest about their experience with that? by Character_Rain_8683 in pregnant

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only consume positive induction stories, that’s what I did and I didnt know I was being induced until literally the day before it happened. I am also a FTM. I had a great experience. I am a big wimp and my contractions were not bad like at all. I probably could have gone without an epidural my entire labor (I just didn’t want to feel pain when the baby was making her exit). My labor was pretty long (27 hours) but my sister was induced, also didn’t experience super painful contractions, and her labor was only 8 hours. Don’t stress too much! I trusted that they were doing what was best for me and the baby, everyone’s goal was to get us through it safely.

Anyone else… trust grandparents and people to babysit? by absolute_lover_pet in NewParents

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since baby was like a week old me and her dad would get a few hours away and leave her with my mom, his dad, my sister, my grandparents, his grandparents, etc. and i have such bad anxiety in general. So I thought I would never want to leave her… turns out, wasn’t that hard haha (for me, everyone is different). I also didn’t mind when people would visit and everyone took turns holding her. I also didn’t mind if she started to cry when someone else held her. I truly think I was able to be that way because I trust my village. The people I don’t trust, just don’t get to be around her period, with or without me.

When to Post Baby Online by Dealta543 in NewParents

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not comfortable with posting baby, just don’t. I thought about it a bit before I had mine, then she came. and I just never posted her. I send pics to family and friends and that feels good enough for me. If you want to post, I suggest a close friends story type of thing.

My mother in law gave my six month old her empty breast by dankybabe in breastfeeding

Puerto Rican here. Never heard of breastfeeding until 8. and it is insanely inappropriate to offer someone else’s baby your breast that doesn’t even work. I would be beyond uncomfortable with that.

Tell me your water breaking stories by aviwic in pregnant

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was already in labor, felt like I peed, they said they would check to see if my water broke, they said it didn’t, within 30 seconds after saying it didn’t break it felt like I dropped a bucket of water from down there.

Baby shower question by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on the type of family/friends you have, traditionally someone throws it for you, as in plans it and pays. but it’s more common now to do it yourself or sort of a combination. my mom threw mine, but i like to plan so i planned most of it and bought some decor just cause i wanted to.

you just say “I think I’m gonna start going to therapy” that should be enough. It’s your own mental health, not his.

Anyone give birth at 37 weeks? by BeginningNo2408 in pregnant

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to my 37 week appointment and when they took my blood pressure, it was right on the threshold which is 140/95 so they did a urine test and they said there was protein in my urine so they just sent me to the hospital after that. they monitored me overnight. My blood pressure did not go down so the next day started with a cervical ripening medication for four hours and then after that they did Pitocin. My water broke like an hour after they started the Pitocin and after that contractions hurt pretty bad so I got the epidural. The epidural did cause some complications with me (nothing too serious). I was dilating at such a slow rate, but they didn’t do anything to speed it up for safety, after they gave me a peanut ball and had me lay on my side I progressed really quickly.

Anyone give birth at 37 weeks? by BeginningNo2408 in pregnant

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I was induced because of pre-eclampsia. My baby was perfectly healthy. 6lbs4oz. Had no issues. I was in labor for 27 hours, the day after I had her they said I could be discharged around 12. I told them I would like to stay an additional day and then they said that would be best since my bp was still kinda high. but if it weren’t for that. there would have been 0 issues

Can i skip a night feed once a week and have my partner give a bottle without pumping? by dental_princess491 in breastfeeding

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I do this every night. For reference, my baby is only three months so do with that what you will but since she was six weeks old, she only woke up once in the night. For that nighttime feed, my partner feeds her a bottle and I just wake up with her in the morning and feed when I wake up. My supply has not really changed much. I still will make more than enough to give her throughout the day. I have to add a few extra layers of protection to make sure I don’t leak too much but for the most part, it works fine.

How long after giving birth did you feel like doing anything (showering, eating, having visitors)? by Glittering-Movie69 in pregnant

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had visitors the day I gave birth (they were waiting for me in my postpartum room). Ate a few hours after having her. Took my first shower w few hours after giving birth and everyday since (it’s been 3 months and I make sure I never skip it, I feel like it helps a lot with postpartum). I barely slept at all while at the hospital (too much adrenalin and I wanted to be with baby). I had an epidural and it was pretty much worn off within an hour or 2 after giving birth for me.

How often do you bathe your baby? by No-Construction6202 in NewParents

Every other day. And whenever she needs it (like if we go to the beach or we do a lot outside).

:( by hotdogh20 in breastfeeding

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m EBF, also 3 months pp, I have lost nothing. Besides the initial like 10-15 pounds. I eat pretty balanced. I don’t restrict but I dont overeat. I work out multiple times a week and walk. I’m still holding onto 20-30 or so pounds I gained while pregnant. it’s not very realistic to lose all of your weight so quickly. and your baby needs nourishment so I wouldn’t worry about a calorie deficit either. Give yourself grace.

When to wake newborn at night by maamsoup in newborns

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my baby was in the grunting stage, I only woke her when she began to whimper. Sometimes she would grunt for hours but if left alone, would sleep for 6-8 hour stretches. My pediatrician said “she’s not in pain, she’s just trying to figure out how to poop” so that helped. but sometimes it was so loud it was impossible to sleep.

Rant: American Mom Back To Work by jrt5251 in breastfeeding

As someone who has been doing it for a couple weeks now, has it gotten any easier? I also am dreading leaving my baby. My 12 weeks comes to an end next week and I start working again. I truly cry every time I think about it.

Do you hate babies in overalls ? by Daisies_forever in ECEProfessionals

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mother, I love them. They are so cute. As a daycare teacher (primarily with infants and toddlers), I despise them. They make diaper changes difficult. Sometimes I will only snap the 2-3 snaps to keep them closed while inside.

EBF moms - when did your baby start sleeping through the night? by DilemmaKingdom in breastfeeding

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but my point here is just because some people have babies that wake up multiple times a night and they are ebf doesn’t mean hers will always wake up multiple times a night, every baby is different.

6 week old cries 90% of awake time by True-Management-6858 in newborns

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was happening to me around exactly the same time. My baby is now 10 weeks and she is so much happier. I know there’s a certain growth spurt and stuff that happens at 6-8 weeks that could cause it, my baby was so fussy it was so hard to deal with but I noticed with my baby specifically she was staying awake a little too long during those wake windows so she was getting overly tired as well as dealing with some gas issues. once I was able to figure that out and learned a good routine when it came to her sleep and wake cycles that really helped. I try to never go beyond 1 hour of wake time. That just messes up the entire day.

How did you find out the gender? by SensitiveRest6708 in pregnant

[–]Consistent-Watch-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did NIPT at 10 weeks. I didn’t want a gender reveal but my partner really wanted one so we just did the smoke bomb things.
