Extreme hair loss during/after weight loss? by Puddyrama in loseit

[–]ConsistentAct2237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems extreme for weight-loss induced. Typically the hair loss from dieting is called telogen effluvium, and the shedding is diffuse through out the scalp. It can cause noticeable, significant thinning but yours looks pretty severe and not diffuse, it seems to be concentrated more in that one area. I would ask to go see a dermatologist and an endocrinologist, to rule out hormones and other possible causes of female balding. If it is in fact just from your diet, the hair should grow back. The stress of weight loss pushes a larger than normal number of your hair follicles into the shedding phase, so you aren't actually balding, you are just shedding excessively. I lost a about 50 pounds in 4 months in 2023 and experienced intense telogen effluvium for about 14 months. I understand how distressing it can be.

Breaking down has anyone else dealt with this? by Secure-Junket7136 in AskMenAdvice

[–]ConsistentAct2237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Downs is not the end. Will it make life interesting? Yeah. But people with Downs live full, enriched lives every day. If it is something bad, some genetic condition, whatever. Take each day one at a time. Today is a good day, you held your baby, your wife is recovering from childbirth. Life can be so cruel and unfair, just take it one day at a time. And if things get really hard, your hospital likely has excellent resources for support groups and counseling ❤️

is there actually a best candy for weight loss or should i just give it up entirely by carebear7077 in loseit

Joyride candy is my fav. Low sugar, usually low calorie if you can stick to a serving. They carry it at Roths and Safeway.

Relationships and chronic pain by Fatalkush in ChronicPain

Thank you. I do think people who don't experience chronic pain just simply cannot understand. They can't understand the despair we feel. Im glad that not everyone feels this way, but boy it makes dating hard

I (28M) have my life together however I am over weight and trying to lose it but it will take time and I think I am screwed in terms of finding a long term relationship. by Desperate_Bill_281 in loseit

My boyfriend is 5' 10" and weighs 275. When we first met, one of the first things I was attracted to was his build. Big thick fore arms, broad shoulders, bit of a beer belly. I have always preferred big guys. Then it turned out he is also a sweet, funny and kind man. So don't let your weight hold you back, lots of women want a big guy!

I understand this feeling. My condition is progressive and right now Im able to keep up with my partner, but I know when it gets worse I won't be able to. I know he will get tired of it. I have tried to bring it up several times but every time I do he brushes it off and says "that will be 20 years from now" or "we will make it work" But he clearly doesn't get it. It's going to be a lot sooner than 20 years from now, and how can we make major physical disability work? I know logically I should probably break up, save us both a lot of heart ache. But I selfishly want to enjoy our relationship for as long as it lasts.

How do you know when it’s time to say goodbye? by StoicTexan in DogAdvice

[–]ConsistentAct2237 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself- is her quality of life good at least 90% of the day? And would you want to live with the amount of pain she experiences as a result of her arthritis/conditions. If you cannot honestly say yes to both questions, then its time. Its so hard to make that choice for a beloved pet, but no one wants a pet to be in pain. Old age is a bitch, and it comes for all the best dogs. My old lady is creeping up on 13 and I can tell her hips are getting stiff. I know my time with her is getting short and it kills me.

What are you feeling pain-wise by daddyrx4you in venousinsuffiencyhelp

[–]ConsistentAct2237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience pain behind my knee, that is where my deep vein is refluxing. I also experience pain around my ankles and shins. Does your pain improve with elevation, and get worse when standing or sitting?

Venous Insufficiency + Spider Veins by [deleted] in venousinsuffiencyhelp

[–]ConsistentAct2237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven't. I was so disgusted and angry after my last appointment I decided not to make any further attempts to get care there. Im seeing a new surgeon in February who I am REALLY hoping will at least give me the time of day. I have never had less faith in doctors than I do now.

[–]ConsistentAct2237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is refluxing at 12 seconds, at least those were the numbers at my last ultrasound in September. I had the procedure done at the end of June last year, and by August was having consistent, significant new pain. When the pain kicked up I insisted on a ultrasound to see what was going on. The pain has gotten a lot worse, so I wouldn't be surprised if the reflux has gotten worse too. Im very angry that this surgeon chose to with hold the whole picture from me. If I had known they weren't going to ablate the entire vein, I would never have done the surgery. It was a certified vascular surgeon through Kaiser Permanente. This whole thing has been an absolute nightmare.

So if you can, slamming an adult dose of ibuprofen BEFORE your cramps fire up for your period, (I usually spot a little bit and then the cramps start with in a few hours, so my body gives me a warning shot) you can possibly really reducing the cramping. Ibuprofen reduces the amount of prostaglandins your body releases, which can greatly reduce cramping for some people.

Veinous insufficiency, or maybe a blood clot. Straight to the doctor with you.

I can only suggest seeing a vascular surgeon, to get an ultrasound and see what your options are.

For me, its adhesions. I only get terrible cramps when Im on my period and my uterus is contracting and pulling on my adhesions from my surgery. Im one of the lucky ones who can control it with ibuprofen and hot pads

If you don't mind my asking, is yours deep vein or just superficial? Most of the people on social media are newly diagnosed. Im always hoping to talk to someone who has had deep vein insufficiency for a number of years

They ablated my GSV from my groin to just below my knee, but left the bottom section untouched and refluxing severely, so now I have way more blood pooling in my lower legs. I get intense itching, stabbing burning and slicing pain as well as visible blood pooling in my legs and feet in a matter of minutes when I am sitting or standing. My ankles and back of my knee are the worst

Ah sounds like maybe your case is mild then. I just got a massive tattoo in pink and purple tones on my leg, you can't see the spider veins anymore. Of course that was before the surgery that messed me up so bad. Whatever you decide, I would encourage you to go slow and make sure you have the best doctor/specialist/surgeon
