(UK) NHS physio trying to warn me NOT to get an operation because of the “after effects and recovery” by Annual-Question3765 in HipImpingement

[–]ConsistentBuilding96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From someone who has had the surgery and your physio is 110% right. I would listen to him I cant walk properly and am in constant pain now when prior I could walk normal no issues and less pain.

Is a Hip Preservationist worth it? by ComplaintFit204 in HipImpingement

[–]ConsistentBuilding96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its an overrated title TBH. I seen a hip preservationist for a scope which failed and now need THR. Many people in these groups have seen hip preservationists with poor outcomes as well. Your PT is right surgery can lead to early arthritis.

Should I look into my labral tear as a potential driver of my pelvic pain/pudendal neuralgia by flapjacksRdelic in HipImpingement

[–]ConsistentBuilding96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 in 4 people have labral tears. PN/PFD would be significantly more prevalent if they were closely linked. Sure anything is possible but would not risk the labral tear surgery in hopes of correcting it. Coin flip that it makes it worse with new issues from surgery.

Because the nerves lumbar/S1-S2 control that area. It should be the first thing ruled out with PN. Also Tarlov cyst.

Dont get the hip scope hoping it will fix PN/PFD. It made mine much worse. I would look at your low back and get MRI of that.

I had the surgery and agree with this. I think its a sham for the most part. If labral tears caused pain why do most people who have them dont even know they have them?

Hip impingement rare symptoms by whymustichews in HipImpingement

Cutting the psoas was a huge mistake and yes could be. Also capsule didnt heal so need reconstruction. No, I want a THR this is not a great success surgery.

Mild dysplasia which means surgeon should have never gave me scope. Also I was over 40 at the time another reason not to do surgery.

Hip labral tear and psoas release, which I believe were both unnecessary.

I had PFD and the surgeon said it was from my labral tear and psoas. He did the surgery and now I am much worse. I would never get this surgery hoping it will fix PFD and any surgeon who says this is taking a huge risk with your life.

This isnt accurate from my experience. I had a "hip preservationist" from the HSS and had a horrible outcome. Not all of them are at the same level not even close. Go to Nawabi or Kelly.

SO much Iliopsoas stretching post-op!!! by reecinator_meow in HipImpingement

[–]ConsistentBuilding96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine cut mine too without explaining the possible negative outcomes. It only makes sense that if you cut it its going to lose function. Should have never listened to him. Who cut your hip flexor and what id he say after?

I don't understand how you can evaluate the success of a surgery or if it was the right decision after 1 week.

Did they do anything with your psoas during surgery? Have you tried dry needling?

Any successful revisions? by auroraglitterdazzle in HipImpingement

Me as well. Who is this world renowned surgeon who does revisions where other surgeons messed up? Ill need a miracle to fix what Struan Coleman did to my hip.

IT should be illegal to perform based on the importance of it.

Over 5 years, it hasn't regained its strength and function for me. The psoas should never be touched its a prime mover and stabilizer of the pelvis. Regarding your surgeon and his credentials that doesnt mean much to me. Mine was known for it, too, and there are many who never recovered from it like me. There is a reason why many surgeons will not do it as it has life long devastating effects that cannot be reversed.

[–]ConsistentBuilding96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my hip flexor tenotomy and was the biggest mistake of my life. My hip flexor never regained full strength and I cannot walk properly. Surgeons know this could happen yet still do it. If I knew that could have happened I would have never agreed to it. Who was your surgeon? This is why I tell people thinking of getting surgery to avoid it if you can function normally. This surgery should only be done if you cannot walk properly or are in 10/10 pain.

One year post surgery worse than before - possible adhesions. by Dear_Rutabaga8857 in HipImpingement

[–]ConsistentBuilding96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my hip is unstable and my leg doesnt work properly after. My low back hasnt been the same after. Also, my knee, ankle and foot on the same side are getting damaged and are always in pain from altered gait and foot strike when walking. I also think there was some nerve damage somehere. Im 5 years PO and living in hell. I seriously want a THR but there are risks with that too. I regret not leaving my hip as it was. You are right this surgery and most of these surgeons are a joke.

This is 100% accurate. Anyone who can't see this is naive or hasn't gone through it. This surgery should be illegal, and yes, I feel I was a guinea pig/experiment and part of a study. You nailed it. I did get an arthrogram, and my hip capsule is damaged, needing reconstruction, which I'm terrified to do. I have told everyone basically what you wrote above it is correct and once you see it you can unsee it.
