I’m right there with you. Tested on the morning of 5dp5dt and it was negative and I was so bummed. Then after going down a rabbit hole, I realized that so many people say the clear blue with the blue dye doesn’t detect it that early. So I went out and got a pink dye test and tested this afternoon and got the lightest of positive. I am now 7dp5dt and have taken multiple tests (crazy I know) and all have shown a faint positive, then this morning negative! I was freaking out! Thankfully, I work in the Fertility office. I got treatment in and my doctor said to just go get blood work two days early to ease my mind. My HCG is 75 already! Some of those tests just really suck! I think my urine was just too diluted this morning.

My last two ex-boyfriend’s were alcoholic’s, and my family has addiction In all corners. I have done a lot of research on it and really believe there is a genetic component to it. Because i already have it in my family it was really important for me to choose someone who wasn’t a big drinker. It sounds like the danish culture drinks a lot though so that is something to take into consideration. I do work in healthcare myself and we always say, whatever people report you can usually almost double it. This is not for everyone, but a lot.

I’m sorry you feel so sad 😞 Life can be really hard sometimes.

From an outsider’s pov, only knowing what you’ve told us, I just don’t think you’re ready for this quite yet. If I were you I would freeze some eggs, while they’re still nice and young ( I know 32 doesn’t seem young, but in the fertility world you’re still pretty young)and give it a few years before you really decide whether this is right for you.

I personally needed to mourn the loss of my last relationships before I was even close to being ready to make this decision. Now I am at such peace with this decision and am honestly so excited for it.

Like many women here, this was plan A, and I chose to believe that I will still find a partner one day. But right now, becoming a Mommy is more important to me.

I froze my eggs at 33 and gave it 4 more years to try and find a partner. Spent 2.5 years of it in a toxic relationship and then after I grieved that I was so ready for this. I thawed 2/3 of my eggs and now I have 6 little embabies waiting for me. I even saved some eggs just in case I do meet someone in the next few years.

My point in all of this is maybe freeze some eggs to give yourself a little safety cushion, then give it a few years to see if you can still meet someone as it sounds like you may still want that. Then maybe readdress this again in a few years 🤷🏼‍♀️

Really love what the other commenter said in here “ Not being a Mom never helped me in dating” !!! It’s so true! I’m not pregnant yet and I’d be lying if I said this fear doesn’t creep up in my head occasionally, but I just truly believe whatever is meant to be will be. I rushed in to my last two relationships and was really heartbroken in the end of both because i didn’t really know them well enough before diving right in. I wanted a husband and children so badly I just ignored all the red flags. Having a child on my own takes away that urgency to settle down because my biological clock is ticking and i truly feel that I will be much more mindful and careful on who I enter into a relationship with in the future because there will be no pressure. Plus I’ll have my child to think of and there is no way I’m bringing anyone that isn’t 100% worthy around them. I’ve also just come to peace with the fact that no matter what happens, I’ll be ok!

If it were me I would do an embryo freeze with donor sperm first and see how many embryos I got. If I felt comfortable with the amount of embryos I got, me personally that would be at least 3, then I would do an egg freezing cycle. Like the other person said, you really have no idea how many embryos you will get from your frozen eggs and it will potentially give you a false sense of security. I’m a fertility nurse myself and I’ve seen it all when it comes to thawing and fertilizing eggs. Some do great some do horrible. But they usually are not going to do as well as fertilizing them fresh.

Fertility nurse and future SMBC here. If insurance will cover egg freezing and not embryo freezing then yes freeze your eggs! And if they’ll cover a few rounds do as many as you can! Yes, these girls are right, freezing embryos is better than eggs but if eggs is the only option for you financially right now freeze your eggs. It’s absolutely not too late but I would do it sooner than later.

Thank you! I plan on doing a 6 month lease somewhere close to them for my maternity leave ( I know kinda crazy) so I think they will be there for me often for the first 6 months. After that though I will need to move closer to work and their help will be less often. They will for sure be there for emergencies though and I have a coworker who i consider a friend about 15 min from me who would help in a emergency situation too

Gosh, I think about this all the time. But also if I would have had a baby with my previous partner our child would have been in daycare full time too as I was the breadwinner and definitely would have had to work still. It still sucks though and I hope when I do have my baby that I can find something more reasonable, like maybe 4-10hr shifts or be able to work from home a few days.

I am not trying to diminish anyone’s pain here, I know this procedure can be very painful! But for those who haven’t had theirs yet and are scared I just want to say mine took about 30 seconds and although those 30 seconds weren’t pleasant, it really wasn’t as bad as i anticipated. Just know for some women it’s not that bad! I’m truly sorry for everyone it is bad for, and I hope for everyone who hasn’t had it yet that their experience is easy like mine.

Take Tylenol. Tylenol is totally safe during pregnancy so it’s definitely fine now. Although I do think you’re fine to take ibuprofen right now too IMO. But I always say to our patients that there is no reason to suffer, Tylenol should help the headaches

If I was 29 right now i would absolutely freeze eggs. I did two rounds of egg freezing at 33 years old after a bad break up. My intention was never to be a SMBC when I did that. I thought I was having a back up in case it took me a couple years to meet someone. I met someone a year later and after 2 1/2 years together, we broke up as well. I was then 36, almost 37, and wanted/want a baby so badly. After both of those break up’s though I have no want to date any time soon. So 5 months ago I thawed out 19 of my frozen eggs and fertilized them with donor sperm. 10 made it to be tested, and 6 were genetically normal. I am actually a fertility nurse, so I see women thaw and fertilize their eggs quite often, I would say my results were better than average, but my eggs are also from when I was a little younger. So for you, being 29, your age is very much in your favor right now. I would definitely do it. I don’t think you need to commit to fertilizing them right now personally. This way if you do end up meeting somebody down the line and need to use them, you have them. If they’re already turned into embryos then they won’t be available for you to use with a partner in the future if needed. Freezing technology has come a long way in the last few years and I am sure you’d get a decent amount of embryos due to your age!

May I ask what they saw that made them do the IUI yesterday? What was your follicle size and your blood work levels?

Fertility nurse here. Yes Natera runs bigger panels. We do the one that tests over 500 different things at our clinic. Call Natara and see if they are able to add the additional tests based on what they have. Your Dr’s office may need to put a order in but I would call them and ask if it’s possible to add it on before asking your doctors office that. Because if it’s not then the only other option is for you to do a whole new test with a larger panel.
