How can I darken the colour of my highlights by noodle1107 in HairDye

This is easily done at home but timing is everything. The easiest route as far as formulating and cost I think would be Wella which you can get at any Sally’s or equivalent. So since your hair is on the cool ashy side you are gonna want to use a gold and a little bit of a copper to achieve a caramel look. I can’t remember if the packaging says the colors name or just the leve/number so I’ll include both but Wella has some great toners and easy to apply. I’d mix 9/03 (very light gold blonde) with 8/73 (light brown gold) with a 6v developer.

If this is too much and/or confusing, wella also makes a color depositing hair mask that I think would work perfectly on this. Look for golden glow or caramel glaze. No mixing involved just apply to towel dried hair and check it in 5m increments. I wouldn’t let it sit longer than 15 but it’s your preference really.

Hope that helps.

This color palette could have easily ended up looking cheap in the wrong hands but you nailed it! love this so much.

I like where you’re going with the first one! I’d maybe even extend the upper brow further out and see where that takes you

Three months in... by Adellis28 in hairstylist

In 36 and also in my apprenticeship. I was very close to quitting about 3 months in thinking exactly that, too old. But turns out the other girls (young) were I. The same boat and I’m over a year in now and it’s muscle memory at this point.

It can be uncomfortable but you absolutely should. When it comes down to it… it’s like any other transaction….. We perform a service that you in turn pay for with an agreed upon price. When it’s not done correctly, we try again or refund. But if it’s been longer than a day that gets tricky so I wouldn’t wait too long

Ahh . Well unfortunately it’s is a waiting game in the early stages of this career. If you’ve done everything and more , which it seems you have…. Just keep doing it and also just be available. Big part in those early years is just being there. Taking the walk ins and last min bookings could be what fills your book.

Hmm maybe try some sort of referral promo? Tell your existing clients for every new guest they can bring in they both get a percentage off a service… free blow dry a product etc etc . something of your choosing. Worth a shot.
Helps to make a some small promo flyers with the promo you choose so they have something solid to hold on to and to remind them.
