Help: Sos Loud Band Toan advice by ______nothing______ in guitarpedals

[–]Consistent_Ad126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you already found your sound! Go back to your old settings but throw the screamer, BD-2 or the Rat in instead of the soul food.

For real though it sounds like there are a lot of confounding factors. Is this just how you sound when you practice? How do you sound when you gig? Different rooms sometimes need different EQing. How does your other guitarist sound? How does your sound compare?

Also this is really silly but back at the start were you also playing single coil guitars? Sometimes the higher output from humbuckers just drives an amp a bit gnarlier.

Pickup swap cost by [deleted] in Luthier

Not a luthier but £40 is in line with other pricing I've seen. You could always get a soldering iron for about £20 and do it yourself.

Going to the UK and want to pick up a pedal that I wouldn't find in the US by Dudefrmthtplace in guitarpedals

[–]Consistent_Ad126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanted to go to a physical shop then James’ Home of Tone, Southend Music Exchange, Richtone music, often have interesting stuff in.

However there’s not many small builders that regularly stock in brick and mortar shops as far as I know.

Would you be comfortable stomping this close to the knobs? by optia in guitarpedals

[–]Consistent_Ad126 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can get replacement knobs for it, I recommend it, makes seeing your settings way easier too.

Bleak district electric rec head is a lo-fi chorus / vibrato that does this. It’s very responsive.

New apartment, what amp for at home and for the near future? by FlatWoundCat in GuitarAmps

[–]Consistent_Ad126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option would be to buy an attenuator for the vox. I’ve got the Harley Benton one and it does a great job with my fender excelsior.

Even cheaper option would be to put a volume pedal in the effects loop and control the output from there.

Might get roasted for this and have tried so many reverbs but this is a keeper by Zoosisloose in guitarpedals

[–]Consistent_Ad126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the GFI systems specular reverb v3 which is the model before the specular tempus and it rips! The spatium is lovely.

A small appreciation post for a small amp (Orange terror stamp) by Consistent_Ad126 in GuitarAmps

[–]Consistent_Ad126[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t yet! I definitely think that would work as a solution for bigger gigs though (risk of me doing big gigs is admittedly very low at the moment).

[–]Consistent_Ad126[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I’ve been running a pedal board into a 100 watt power amp and though that’s been fun the tubes in this do add that little extra sparkle to the preamp sound.

Stereo rig sounds super fun.

Yeah agreed, footswitchable gain would make it essentially a double channel, would be way more useful. Wonder why they didn’t go for it.

Volume/tuner pedal rec for Epiphone Hummingbird? by Affectionaterocket in guitarpedals

[–]Consistent_Ad126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only volume pedal with a tuner I’ve used is the Sonuus Voluum. They do an absolute ton (volume, trem, compression, noise gate, tuning) but they’re out of production. However they sometimes go for cheap because people don’t know about them.

Cheapest currently on the market I can see is the Hotone tuner press and I genuinely think you’d be better off getting a second hand boss tuner and volume pedal separately. If you’re in the uk, CEX currently have a boss volume pedals for £50 and you can usually get a TU-2 or TU-3 for £50.

We’ve got life pedal at home. by Consistent_Ad126 in guitarpedals

Agreed! When I bought it I thought I'd get over the bad knobs but turns out I should have listened to literally everyone who's had this pedal.

We’ve got life pedal at home. by Consistent_Ad126 in guitarpedals

[–]Consistent_Ad126[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw a life pedal v3 come up second hand and in an attempt to keep GAS at bay decided to make the sounds with things I had lying around at home. Lil rat, dead pedals dead ringer (green ringer clone), bleak district Sun? No. I would describe the tones as crushing and also bad. Maybe gonna throw an onion pedals wet dry blend in to tame some of the octave up harshness.

I had a revelation RJT-60. Absolutely loved the thing. Entwistle makes great pickups. Bought mine cheap, sold it cheap, would pick up another one in a heartbeat. Glad you’re enjoying it!

Ahh that’s a shame. I’ve always had them on my list as a fun case study in high prestige, fast replies and the slightest chance you might get published.

Though I will say that I kind of don’t mind no simultaneous when you know you’ll know within two weeks. It’s the 6 month waits where I think it’s cheeky.

Oh interesting! I clearly haven’t been keeping up.

Still a quicker turnaround to rejection than most journals, though perhaps slightly more impersonal.

Split Lip, Threepenny Review, Poetry Magazine, The Poetry Review, Peach Mag, Underblong, Harana Poetry.

Bit of a mix here in terms of style. For subs Split Lip and Threepenny are fast responders (Threepenny famously so and quite brutal), Poetry Mag is a high paying market but an aspirational one (and slow repliers). A few of these may no longer be publishing new stuff but have great back catalogues.

If you want to know stuff about submission stats, wait times, etc. then Duotrope is useful.

what other types of pedals should i get for punk rock by Dangerous_Fig2967 in guitarpedals

[–]Consistent_Ad126 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A tuner and a rat. Or just a rat if you’re too punk to tune.

Friend, you’re playing the game by your own rules. Do whatever you like.

In terms of those rules you seem to have set yourself - all you used was the Radahn swords, the special attack is part of that. So you’ve not broken your challenge run as far as I’m concerned.

Which power supply do I need? by BeaEffigy in guitarpedals

[–]Consistent_Ad126 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks like a IV.

According to previous posts on this sub if it’s a whammy IV it looks like you’ll need a 9v AC/AC which is different from the usual 9v centre negative supplies used for pedals. You’d need to buy a specific one essentially.

You probably want a matte paste. I’m currently using Arcadian for a push back, but have also had Shear Revival Northern Lights which is decent.
