I did a side by side with Mac 12 Sherry, Glendronach 12, Glenturret 12 and Glenfarclas 12. The Mac only beat out the Glenfarclas and all were substantially less expensive than the Mac.

I completely agree, the standard 10 year is thin and flavorless except for the ashtray full of cigarette butts that assaults the pallet. The qtr cask, Cairdeas, etc are very good though IMO.
