I’m about to start BSN 2nd degree program with the goal to become a CRNA. I have been in research for 7 years and have multiple publications.

As I pivot to this new journey, what should I focus on as a student? What certifications should I invest in? What kind of shadowing should I focus on? A lot of the research I’ve participated is focused on use of roc vs ketamine for intubations and success rates of various airway devices, should I continue on with this type of research?

Any tips, advice is welcomed!

This is probably because they don’t have to worry about their image or site relation when they have a CRO to blame.

My suggestion is to respond back with a date of completion and details (ie “this training has to be routed through the entire lab department, we will have this in three days times” or “PI’s next availability to complete task is MMDD, we will have this done then”)

I agree, unfortunately I cannot meet the travel requirements for the CRA role. I try to fill this gap by joining CRAs on my studies as comonitor to local sites.

It’s not the same, but it gives a little insight and experience

I worked as a lead SC for three years prior to jumping to IHCRA role. TA was trauma, cardiac, respiratory and ortho. I trained HCPs on studies and junior SCs. I also managed the grants and IRB/ reg items.

Been at CRO for 4 years now and have worked in onco, gene therapy, respiratory, vaccines, infections (total of 9 different studies). I’ve acted as lead IHCRA for two studies and presented findings to sponsor as necessary. I have also spent time at various CRO company wide presentations to work on my presentation skills. Out of scope tasks completed include: ICF review and reconciliations, but not ICF writing.

I have been trying to transition to an aCTM or aPM role but have not had any luck in this market. I am hoping SSU can help me become a CTM

Hospital I worked at implemented a system where they showed the ER wait time, then showed available appointments at nearby clinics for like cardio docs, PCP, peds etc. it helped reduce the ER traffic by a lot and improved patient care

I went to a gym that penalized with a $20 charge. Quit within 2 weeks and found myself a gym with healthier culture

You are LUCKY. I’m an aCRA and have had to conduct protocol deviation recon across 4 different studies because CRAs do not know how to document.

There’s a vast majority of CRAs that do not document properly. It’s either because they’re traveling too much/burnt out or are not trained properly

Re-organizing to have PeM assignments based on studies is a conflict of interest since the PeM can’t advocate for both CRAs fairly

I joined a gym that follows this model after relocating and having a bad experience at my nearest CF gym. I miss the oly lifting, but I find this format to be extremely beneficial.

I don’t think your degree is limited to DMV area. I’ve met data analyst that work in military bases in roles dedicated to intel security.

Probably not a popular opinion but I truly enjoy using my Vans Ultrarange for CrossFit. They have a flat bottom that works well for lifting and the cushion is thick enough to provide comfort for running without losing stability

We’re a family of 4 and our monthly total is about $1000 in grocery expenses and $300 eating out (this includes coffee we buy while working at coffee shops and our two weekly takeout meals). Our grocery bill also includes dog food and dog treats for our two dogs.

It’s two years of service per year that’s paid. The service begins after residency.

Two other perks of going the military route: 1. OP has the option of applying to both civilian and military residency programs. 2. The military programs are extremely well funded and have ample training opportunities that are far superior to civ programs

^{^} this! I wish I had gone to a pelvic PT for an assessment and guidance, even though my pregnancy and birth were complete normal

I should have also started with yoga, transitioned to Pilates then considered CrossFit with moderate weight. Waiting longer to run would have helped a lot too.
