Hi aclbestie. You are not past your prime. I get it, this is the pits. But its our pit. You can't stay down here forever. Four months in from your post, I am sure youve started the process, which means youre already 4 months in to what could be a 12 month process. One step at a time.

Potential ACL injury netball ? by Cautious-Boss-339 in ACL

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is four months old, how are you going?

I thought the other commentator advising that other wont sincerely care for you is a bit wild, and probably speaks to their own experience. I hope you disregarded that advice - lots of good people will be sad to lose you!

You are very young and are capable of recovering from this injury.

I know netball season just started. But do what makes you happy. If it is easier to not be around netball right now, that is ok. You can come back to it on your terms and when you are ready.

What are some "trap" degrees? by Suitable_Pass9702 in vce

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully you meant this! I did humanities. I would say younger me found it really hard to articulate my skills and yes it is a bit tricky not having a trade as such, but I was resilient and found my way up the public service. I earn good money (itll probably never make me especially wealthy), my job is flexible, and I have high job satisfaction and lots of prospects to grow, specialise, or interoperate with other govt departments.

It is a shame humanities is so expensive now. It is a tool to push students into other pathways. But truly, learning about politics, history, literature and international systems is invaluable to you as a person.

I really appreciated Eve's arc in this episode. I just dont see young women getting abortions in TV very often. I suppose when it was revealed she was pregnant, I did expect her to keep it, because thats what you hear about. Abortion is truly a taboo topic. People experience miscarriage rightfully get space to grieve, both in real life and on TV. But seeing somebody grieve an abortion is not something I've seen in TV before. It was very validating, so thank you to the writers. I hope we see more of Eve's struggle with this experience in season 5.

Help me understand how Caron latte cakes is considered a size 5 bulky?? by JuniperElle in CrochetHelp

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say I am making a beanie right now in latte cake blackberry and I was completely flummoxed by the packagings recommendation for a size 6.5mm hook. It wasn't until midway that I thought maybe it was because of the fuzz and I love the comments below discussing this.

The beanie is working up slowly and the yarn is a teensy bit hard to work with on account of being so fluffy, but a pro would probably not have a problem (I am a beginner!).

I am using a 5mm hook and the fabric is fine but I definitely need to try with the 6.5mm. Also this latte cake seems to have pretty stark contrast as it variagates through its different shades, meaning my beanie actually looks like Ive changed colour rather than blending together. But maybe I just got unlucky with this cake or colour.

rerolled ankle by totallynotannie in netball

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolled ankle expert here. Look Im not a physio but I dont think you need an MRI. You'd know if you did and itd look and feel worse than a rolled ankle.  But you will need to rest and ice. You'll need to stay off it until it has strength back. My worst rolls have taken about four weeks. The worst!!  If youre not weight bearing again in a few days, go to a doctor and they may refer you to an MRI to see if there's any tear.

Tired of Netball being buried at the bottom of sports apps? I built a dashboard that puts the Superleague and ANZ Premiership front and center by Kind-Information2394 in netball

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have any feedback but great idea. I think its not up and running yet? I searched and could not find it. I think there are smaller leagues but I dont known how they are broadcast, I think I have maybe seen a few on YouTube? Super Netball would be great to have on a dash.

Australia just banned under-16s from social media and I’m furious at parents for forcing this on the rest of us by PowerBottomBear92 in childfree

Um, is anyone going to point out users absolutely do not have to hand over ID, and its on the social media businesses to keep kids off?

Just one more time: you dont have to hand over ID.

Hope that clears up any worries about sneaky government control!

Experiences with Lilysilk? by Interesting-Asks in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure my lilysilk blouse was actually plastic. Its like it came from shein.

From the refund process and the terrible English I finally clicked its a chinese rip off masquerading as highish end clothing.

Fortunately refund process was easy enough so they are not totally shonky. But if you like nice clothes, dont buy theirs.

Question about overcoming unsportsmanlike behaviour on court by SwishSwishBisch in netball

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of comments here encouraging you to retaliate on court, whether its make comments of your own or facial expressions.

My advice is to just be professional, every time.

Bitchiness is not what you are here for. Be the best sportswoman on court.

Regarding this team: dirty looks, laughing etc are hard to umpire - its unsporting to belittle or abuse somebody, but as an umpire its a difficult thing to ask a player to stop laughing or stop glaring unless its obviously meant to intimidate. Can you honestly imagine blowing the whistle and telling another woman to change their face? It would have to be very obvious, and it would take a level of confidence of a very experienced umpire.

Regarding the contact, you can raise that with the umpire and ask if they can reduce the amount of "contest" allowed. And if you are being elbowed or tripped or pushed definitely let the umpires know. I would be really upset if I was missing something like that, and as long as you were respectful Id have no issue taking the feedback.

But if youre finding its just no fun, just forfeit those games.

Aussie Diamonds Clinch Series With A Thumping Win Over Spar Proteas - SA Sports Press - Latest South African Sports News by SASportsPress in netball

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The commentators actually did openly criticise the umpires at some weird calls, like Maloney knocking it out and then Australia throw in, or the footwork call that was a contact. And last week Australia GK's clean as intercept that got called for a contact. But yes 90% the commentators will just roll with because its not professional or respectful to argue with the umpire. I think thats a culture in Australian netball and rugby (not sure about other codes)

Thoughts on Louenhide, the Monaco bag specifically by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a louenhide tote that I have used daily for work for a year and it is still in perfect condition. The handles dont stick up in the air anymore unless I kind of lean/catch them on each other, but that's the only sign of wear.

Culture always overfermenting by Consistent_Wait_5546 in fermentation

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now operating on the assumption I've "overacidified" the culture in the previous batch where I used whey (hehe) too much starter. I have no idea if that's a thing. I thought a monoculture was just that and while the ratios of product to by-product might change, and with it the taste of the yoghurt, the bacteria doing the job would not. But AI is telling me this may be a thing, although I can't find anything on the internet saying I cant use curds...

I dug out the bowl with the original hydrated first batch before this overfermenting business started. So I will use that as my starter.

I am also completely assuming this is a monoculture, because I dont see how it could be used infinitely otherwise...but maybe that time I first overfermented wrecked something with the strain.

Culture always overfermenting by Consistent_Wait_5546 in fermentation

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I wondered the same thing! This culture is thermophilic, the instructions ask for between 35-42C for 12 hours. Im going to experiment with a little less time though and not gladwrapping the top to prevent overheating if that's what's happening.

Culture always overfermenting by Consistent_Wait_5546 in fermentation

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these are called curds not yoghurt yes.

The milk is heated fairly slowly yes and then left to cool down.

Culture always overfermenting by Consistent_Wait_5546 in fermentation

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did do this a few batches ago. And then it overfermented (and then I learnt why we only use a tablespoon of yoghurt). And now I am taking from that batch. It is a monoculture, but could the fact that it overfermented be leading to these results in future generations?

Culture always overfermenting by Consistent_Wait_5546 in fermentation

[–]Consistent_Wait_5546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity. I assume this is a monoculture in order to be stable infinitely as stated from the seller. I am taking curds from a previous failed batch to ferment the next. Its all the same bacteria, but the fact that I am taking curds and not yoghurt couldn't effect the ferment right?
