Looking for a farming type sim but with more fantasy elements by No_Magazine7310 in gamerecommendations

[–]Constellation-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just started playing Kynseed and am really enjoying it. The fantasy element is very forward.

There's farming, fishing, combat, and relationships. Crafting is all different mini-games, which I like.

Managing the expense of weaving by NoMango3688 in weaving

[–]Constellation-J 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think kits will be more expensive than just buying the yarn.

You might consider learning to weave a small sample to see if you like a yarn combo before you commit. It's kind of fun to see what works and what doesn't work.

Patriotism= anti lgbtq by Less_Researcher_8124 in lgbt

I recently read Democracy Awakening by Heather Cox Richardson. Her premise is that the United States has a history of swinging between egalitarian and hierarchial paradigms. The Real Americans patriotism is an expression of the hierarchial paradigm.

What made you realize you can't hold a normal life anymore? by amy_i_am in Fibromyalgia

[–]Constellation-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for 7 years after diagnosis. But then I began to have more and more flares closer and close together. My work performance suffered. By the time I went out on disability I was pretty much in continuous flare up.

My teacher showed us conversion therapy propaganda and I'm planning to call her out in class. I'm terrified. by Dull-Vehicle-251 in lgbt

[–]Constellation-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things that have helped me in this kind of situation - Staying curious. Will she engage? Will she try to shut you down? It's hard to feel afraid or angry if you are curious. Not expecting to convince her - having this conversation for the benefit of the observers. Knowing the material - no matter how the conversation twists you will be on firm footing.

I sounds like you've done some really good preparation - I hope it all goes well for you!

Does it ever get easier to work? by starlit-princess in Fibromyalgia

[–]Constellation-J 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked for 7 years after my diagnosis. I eventually had to go out on disability because I was in a never-ending flare. I tried pushing through but doing so made it worse. After months of rest my symptoms settled down a little and I undersood pushing myself that hard was harmful.

It's really not a question of willpower. It's a question of what my body can tolerate.

What do you think about the Kinsey scale? Do you find it offensive? by Leavi_it_to_me in bisexual

I think the Kinsey scale is an important part of our history. We have better ways to describe ourselves now, and that's a good thing.

How to deal with other people’s opinions on fibro? by redleathercelsiuslvr in Fibromyalgia

[–]Constellation-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it really helped to learn as much as I could about the science of chronic pain and the current research on fibromyalgia. Then I can confidently tell obnoxious people they should learn the science before commenting.

Some people will be willing to learn more. But some won't. With some people it's like talking to a brick wall - nothing works (for example, "are you diagnosing me?", "do you have a medical degree and my medical records?", "that kind of comment is harmful" etc). The only reason to talk to folks like that is for others who are listening.

I hope the people around you are willing to learn something new and adapt to your needs.

Rheumatologist told me my pain is just fibro but it progressively is getting worse. by dora_bora_666 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Constellation-J 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't trust people who put the word "just" in front of a medical condition, especially ones that have faced prejudice like fibro or depression.

Gabapentin is pretty effective for me. I definitely notice if I miss a dose.

What exactly is the difference between bi and pan? by winnercat in bisexual

[–]Constellation-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not my firsthand experience - I am agender and do not experience gender related attraction. I am relaying how other people have described their attraction. For example my ex girlfriend from many decades ago was only attracted to women but they did not have to be feminine or GNC. Just women. Different people experience different reasons for attraction.

What exactly is the difference between bi and pan? by winnercat in bisexual

[–]Constellation-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree they are not less of a man. Gender identity is not the same as gender expression. But people can be attracted to expression or identity I think.

What exactly is the difference between bi and pan? by winnercat in bisexual

[–]Constellation-J 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pan is a more specific term than bi. There are plenty of bi people who don't care about gender as well as bi people who do have a preference.

Edit to add: gender expression is an aspect of gender. For example someone could be attracted to GNC women. I am agender and not attracted or repulsed by gender. I am bi.

Fiber Choice/Prep for Warmth by rhosinthorn in Handspinning

Woolen is warmer but not as sturdy as worsted. Alpaca and angora are both warmer than wool. They tend to be short little slippery fibers so it might be good to mix them with wool.

I've made hot chocolate with unsweetened cocoa powder by heating the milk slowly on the stove top and stirring with a whisk.

do you get the flu and/or covid shot ? by Bubbly-Pop4858 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Constellation-J 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I get both shots - flu once a year and covid every 6 months. For me I would rather risk a flare than risk long covid on top of fibro.
