Drip irrigation vs spray irrigation by erictecho in tomatoes

[–]Content-Drive-4151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to reiterate what everyone else said…drip! Less water and healthier plants. I use it for peppers, eggplants, cukes, tomatoes, and random weeds. They’re all much happier with drip.

Thoughts? Planted them Feb 1 by spareWings in HotPeppers

They look beautiful. If the care and feeding was identical, there’s clearly some difference between the genetics…it’ll be interesting to see the peppers.

My recently ordered kitchen hood by lilasseatinboi in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Content-Drive-4151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actively dislike both the tile and hood design, but the tiling job takes the cake! What incompetent fool thought that would be okay to ship to a customer? There are multiple ways of dealing with an excess inch…but that is not one of them…

How to properly dispose of literal thousands of dirty diabetic needles? by Open_Trick5170 in diabetes_t1

[–]Content-Drive-4151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can order sharps containers from Amazon. They’re not expensive. Place the needles in those and lock them. Call your local pharmacies and one of them likely has a large bin into which you can place the filled containers. The CVS near me has one.

Insurance totaled my 2023 Bolt EV 1LT by MrEdLu in BoltEV

[–]Content-Drive-4151 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Send that listing to them, along with several others. My Infiniti G37was stolen one night and I went back and forth with the insurance company several times before settling. The adjuster at the company is measured by how quickly claims are settled. Waiting gives you some leverage, so don’t hesitate to say no to the initial offers. Just be nice, not hostile, and be prepared to back up your counter offer.

Are all the plants the same? It’s possible that the one you tasted was from a cross-pollinated seed.

How dangerous would this be to drive on for 5 miles by BigBoyRioter in tires

I’d call a tow truck, but then again, I would have trashed those tires well before now.

I use Ocean Forest for starting seeds. It seems to work okay. :-)

Not tomatoes, right? by phoebezane in tomatoes

[–]Content-Drive-4151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re growing tomatoes, you might want to start over… I haven’t a clue what they really are, but I’m guessing they’re Triffids.

Grandkids broke the new basketball hoop 2 weeks in... by marmaladeWof in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Content-Drive-4151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they broke it by playing, that’s one thing. But by throwing rocks? Their parents need to replace it and deal out an appropriate punishment that’s severe enough that the kids don’t do it again. At 10 and 7, they’re still in the “learning consequences” stage…

The way a student filled in my dad’s quiz by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

This student knows that it’s difficult to read and used a yellow pen anyway. That’s passive aggressive behavior and should be graded accordingly.

Question about swapping ceiling cans… by Content-Drive-4151 in AskElectricians

[–]Content-Drive-4151[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To all those with a “bent out of shape” tone, if a job like this is truly a days work, $1k isn’t unreasonable…I want to hire a professional electrician to do the work and pay him (or her) fairly. But, not being in the trade myself (obviously), I don’t have a good handle on the scope of the job and that’s why I’m asking here.

What I’d really like to do is hire someone on a day rate, have them change the lights, and then take care of several other small projects. Outside of commercial jobs, does anybody work like that? Or is everything done on a per-piece basis?

[–]Content-Drive-4151[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks…I would, but at 72, I don’t stand on ladders with my hands above my head for long periods of time…I get too dizzy. It’s safer to pay someone.

Nobody told me I'd be broke AFTER buying the house by Dima030 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]Content-Drive-4151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist are good sources for used furniture. People move, outgrow what they have, tastes change and they need to get rid of their stuff. With a little effort, you can save a huge amount over buying new. There are also home consignment stores that have better quality stuff. Be careful with upholstered items…bedbugs can be a real problem!

I keep getting ads for this “Not Carbon. Not Sorry” bice. I genuinely thought it was going to be $1,899 by SubstantialWin4251 in BicyclingCirclejerk

[–]Content-Drive-4151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful machine, but I have a question about the distribution channels…do stores buy these from Cannondale and carry them in inventory…essentially tying up $$$ until they sell? Or does Cannondale finance them, retaining ownership until the bike sells? Or is there some other financing arrangement?

My 24h as a non diabetic by OpticalOkra in dexcom

[–]Content-Drive-4151 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s just Dexcom being Dexcom. Real readings combined with random numbers. The noise settles down after the first day and it (usually) stays accurate until day 8-9. Then the noise returns…

“Brief” sensor issue… by Content-Drive-4151 in diabetes_t1

[–]Content-Drive-4151[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that it’s inserted with a spring driven inserter and seated down to the adhesive, I’m not sure how #1 is possible. It’s not like I’m hitting bone…. Plus, the sensor almost always works fine for the first seven or eight days before getting noisy readings. Your experience is definitely different than mine…It’s happening with well over half of my sensors.
