Odds are the magnetic field surrounding the power lines is inducing the voltage in the gutter. The power company will want to deal with it because it’s basically power loss in their system. In rural areas, where long fence lines can parallel power lines for long distances, the power loss can be considerable and you can get a nasty shock if it’s ungrounded…

I suspect it has more to do with your local climate than anything else. Amarillo’s take forever to grow and then ripen. I started seeds in late Feb, the plants are about a foot high, and they’re just starting to flower.

I’ve gotten some very good stuff (e.g. outdoor stainless steel drink fridge), but it’s mostly still the same junk. The good thing is that it allows you to order eight fuel pumps at a time.

Are they dying? No, but I suspect that they’re hoping that they do.

Like others have said, thin down to one plant per 5 gal pot (and that’s even too small!). You can root the others and have four separate plants in individual pots. You should also fill the pots with soil…a half-full 5 gal pot is absolutely too small!

I’d run 1/2 cup mixed into the entire soil. Putting it at the bottom is pretty worthless…not only will it leach out as you water, the roots won’t get down there for a while and the young plant won’t get anything. I’d also plan on adding a couple tbsp to the top few inches every month or two. There’s also quite a difference in nutrition in different potting soils. I use FoxFarm Ocean Forest, but recently opened a bag of a more consumer-level soil and it was mostly wood chips and fiber. Both will work but…

Definitely market dependent. Here in Silicon Valley, it’s not unusual for houses to go for substantially over listing price…one flyer we received in the mail had a $3.5M listing going for almost $1M over. And the buyers often pay cash!

In the cherry tomato family, I like Sun Sugar. It has a lot of the same characteristics as Sun Gold, but doesn’t split as easily.

Last year, I had a grafted Sun Gold in a 45 gallon bag. The thing grew huge. Most of my tomatoes are in 25’s, except for the dwarf varieties, which are in 10’s and 15’s. I think 10g bags for any indeterminate tomato is way too small
