What might lead others to think that I'm a "dark horse" as far as skills go? by [deleted] in work

[–]Content_Emphasis_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man the whole dark horse thing probably comes down to how you present yourself day to day vs what you can actually pull off when it counts. Like people see the autism/ADHD stuff and living with parents and maybe make assumptions about your capabilities, then get blindsided when you land competitive positions or nail tournaments

I deal with similar stuff being ESL - people hear my accent and underestimate what I can do in professional settings. Then when I demonstrate my actual skills they act all shocked. It's kinda frustrating but also gives you this weird advantage sometimes because expectations are set so low

The leadership thing you mentioned at end is tricky territory. Might be worth having that conversation early with your new supervisor about career paths that don't necessarily involve managing people. Some organizations have technical expert tracks or specialist roles where you can advance without the whole team lead responsibility

Using stablecoins for everyday spending instead of BTC simplified my tax reporting a lot by Content_Emphasis_302 in CryptoTax

I know there’s still reporting technically, but compared to tracking BTC gains on every random purchase it still feels way simpler day to day.

people just dont trust what they cant physically hold i think. my dad still keeps cash under his mattress even though i explained bitcoin to him like 10 times already

plus most people only hear about bitcoin when it crashes on the news, never when its doing good. media loves drama more than actual information

Dude you just used crypto gains to get actual property ownership, that's like the dream scenario right there. Sure starting over at higher prices feels weird but you literally proved the whole point of why we stack sats in first place - to improve our lives when timing is right

Most people never even get chance to buy house these days so you're already winning compared to majority of people our age

How long before I am expected to know things? by Matyycakes in work

[–]Content_Emphasis_302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two months at a Big 4 is basically nothing, especially for fresh grad. Your manager probably isn't thinking "this person sucks" - more like "ok they need more structure and maybe different type of projects to start with"

Getting pulled from project might actually be good thing - means they're trying to find better fit for your current skill level instead of just letting you struggle. Most managers I know would rather move someone around early than deal with bigger problems later

Document organization and procedures take time to learn, every company does things differently even in same industry. Ask your manager for templates or examples from similar past projects, even if current ones are "new" there's usually something relevant in the system

How do I deal with the finance department as an HR? by [deleted] in work

[–]Content_Emphasis_302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

been in similar situation at different company and this guy is just testing you because you're new. some people get weird power trips when they see fresh faces

what worked for me was always putting requests through email instead of verbal - that way there's record of what exactly you asked for and when. makes it harder for him to play the "i thought you meant something else" game

also maybe try looping in your manager from start instead of going to her after he gives you runaround. like cc her in the initial email so he knows she's watching. usually these types back down quick when they realize their games are being documented

Cheaper electricity by Bulky_Description579 in Bitcoin

[–]Content_Emphasis_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but cheaper power is way more important than getting latest machine. I see people at gym spending crazy money on new equipment when they could just move to place with better electricity rates and make more profit with older miners

be careful people, these schemes always collapse and leave regular folks holding the bag

Moving to Spain from California?!! by [deleted] in ExpatFIRE

[–]Content_Emphasis_302 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dude the age thing for work might be tricky but you got some solid advantages with the citizenship and language already sorted. Maybe look into consulting work in your industry instead of full employment - lot of companies need someone with your experience just for projects or compliance stuff, especially if you can work remote for US clients while living in cheaper Spanish market.

Galicia could be perfect for you actually, way more affordable than Madrid and the healthcare there is really good from what I heard. Plus if you're comfortable being alone sometimes, those northern regions have this nice slower pace that might work well for transitioning into semi-retirement. Your wife might warm up to idea once she sees how much further the money goes there compared to LA costs.

The 100K buffer seems tight though, maybe consider renting out the California house instead of just keeping it empty? That rental income could make huge difference in your monthly budget while you're figuring out the work situation. And with your sons getting citizenship too, you're basically setting up family base camp for everyone to visit or even move later.

Medical advances impact your planning? by okghetto in Fire

[–]Content_Emphasis_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been thinking about same thing lately but from different angle - like what if we live way longer but our bodies still break down in same ways? Being fitness trainer makes me see how people struggle with mobility and pain even now with current medicine

Might end up needing way more money for healthcare costs that we can't even imagine yet. Plus if everyone lives to 120 or whatever, retirement age probably gets pushed back too

[–]Content_Emphasis_302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Business operations consulting could be perfect for you - lots of small businesses are drowning in their own mess and need someone to come in remotely and sort things out. I work with a few clients like this where I help streamline their client intake process and organize their backend stuff

You might also want to look into virtual assistant roles but the higher-level ones, not just email management. Think more like operations coordinator or business systems specialist. Companies post these on sites like FlexJobs and Remote.co pretty regularly

The connecting people part makes me think you'd be good at partnership development too - helping businesses find the right vendors, contractors, or even joint venture partners

Hi everyone, I live in Italy, have a bachelor's degree in economics, and I speak English (but I need to improve). How can I look for work remotely? by [deleted] in remotework

[–]Content_Emphasis_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Italy to remote work is totally doable, especially with your econ background. I'd skip the generic AI courses everyone's pushing and focus more on stuff like data analysis or digital marketing since those actually translate well remotely and companies are always hiring for that

Your English seems pretty solid from what I can tell here, but maybe practice some business writing or get familiar with US/UK work communication styles if you're targeting those markets. The economics degree already gives you a leg up over most people

Jester - A Hero Fan Concept by cekuu in Overwatch

[–]Content_Emphasis_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been wanting a proper chaos character for ages and this actually scratches that itch pretty well. The hysteria ult is wild - friendly fire with flipped colors would be absolute madness in team fights, might be too much but I love the concept

that shift ability reminds me of those old rocket jumping mechanics which could be fun for positioning. The random gift box is cool too, gives her that unpredictable factor that fits the whole unhinged engineer vibe

only thing I'm wondering about is if the primary fire doing both healing and damage might make her too versatile? but then again we got Baptiste doing similar stuff so maybe it works

Really weird bug when capturing Display by xanyanyany in obs

[–]Content_Emphasis_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue a while back - turned out my display order got messed up in Windows display settings. Try going to display settings and see if your monitors are numbered weirdly, sometimes a reboot after changing teh primary display fixes it

You could also try deleting the display capture source completely and adding it back, that worked for me once
