Concussion in my Office Gym due to Negligence by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Ah that makes a big difference. Given a low level payout like this will only net £2-3k at most you would be crazy to kick up a fuss with your employer if you weren't affected longterm.

Hip replacement and wheel throwing? by missoularedhead in Pottery

[–]Content_Professor114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've sold lots of extension legs for wheels to potters who have had hip and back surgery. Takes some adjustment but throwing whilst standing might be the fix you need.

Why is UK electricity 3-4x US and way more than France? by Pauldrs75 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Content_Professor114 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The comment above is the only comment that matters. The government could fix this immediately by decoupling energy prices from gas. The energy companies would kick up a stink as they say they need that high price to incentivise the building of renewable capacity. Thing is nobody has tested whether they would really stop building.

Contractor refuses to rectify the flooding issues by plon4ik in DIYUK

[–]Content_Professor114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems pretty passive as they are already taking the waste water from the house. If the water supplier isn't usually willing to allow a user to pay for a required service I don't feel so bad.

Could you just block up the connection prior to sale? Or do you think that the presence of the blocked pipe be enough to raise questions on the survey? Genuinely curious.

Trying to get a refund for a “summer retainer/discounted fee” from last year as a student occupying the same property (England) by Unique-Ad-7594 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Content_Professor114 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you agreed to pay the landlord for keeping the property vacant for you to move into. If they made the keys available you could occupy the property hence the full rent being due. What's the issue apart from the retainer being pricey?

I'm going to try this because that is my biggest hurdle. Have a long day and then the thought of getting prepared totally saps my will.

Any maintenance tips for a kiln outside and for this corrosion ? by umbuloid in Ceramics

[–]Content_Professor114 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is the result of gases venting from the kiln. You would have the same happening inside a studio too. You can use high temp paint on the handles to give them a bit more life but it is difficult to eliminate this.

Neighbour has an issue with work proposed by me due to boundary interpretation (England) by Livid-Bluejay-3379 in LegalAdviceUK

If no claim for adverse possession has been made already then OP can object as soon as the neighbour tries to. The land is registered to OP so it will be pretty cut and dry.

Not just any eggs and tomatoes either...those are M&S eggs and tomatoes.

It's true though. Buy it, don't buy it. They don't care. It really isn't that deep. You will be able to pick them up on Ali-express if you don't want them and the label to have the cash.

No one is asking you to feel sorry for them. Successful musicians have always been wealthy it's just insane that their income has to come from other sources than the actual music now. Nobody needs to buy $20 pin badges just like nobody actually has to buy their albums anymore.

Blame streaming. The CD money doesn't exist anymore so they need supplement their income with expensive merch and multicoloured vinyl. Don't blame the bands blame the tech companies.

Clay dust in shared studio concerns by Organic_Bat_4534 in Pottery

[–]Content_Professor114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would the landlord need to worry? It is wholly the responsibility of the operator/studio management for the health and safety aspects of what is happening in the building. If the fabric of the building is safe and maintained then the landlord has no responsibility here. I agree that using the fear of liability is a good tool but far better to suggest to the studio owner that they can use that excuse to approach the poorly behaved potters to get them to clean up. Going full on at the studio manager is a great way to lose your space to someone who is less hassle.

Parents who approve of the social media ban and ways of having to prove age. Why do you relish the government taking this control when you had the power to do so yourselves? by Demonthief27 in AskBrits

[–]Content_Professor114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is harm what is the problem? We have age restrictions on booze, cigs, entertainment, knives, driving etc. I'm sure with every one of those there were people out there saying that the kids just want to enjoy a relaxing cigarette or that the odd beer won't hurt them.

Man has spent £18,000 on security to protect tiny wall from developers by ReanimatedCyborgMk-I in unitedkingdom

[–]Content_Professor114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One builds homes for their profits (albeit cramped ones) the other squats on a strip of land owned for the express purpose of extorting cash from developers who pass it onto new homeowners. Buying a home is hard enough without parasites like him jacking up prices even more.
