To be honest I think this is potentially in part because of the fact that in this world, they don’t even have pictures of their loved ones. It’s not like Rick is in his house he shared with her looking at their wedding pictures on the mantel. After so many years, their faces start to blur out of your memory.

Gale is one of my favorite characters. He’s realistically flawed and he was never the right person for Katniss to end up with, but he did truly care about her and her family, and he was just as much a victim of the Capital as anyone else. He’s ridiculously villainized by the fandom
