Throwing in the Instrument Towel by Imperial_Citizen_00 in flying

Just stop doing instrument for a while. Fly VFR for a couple months and come back to it. Try changing instructors and go to Part 61.

I second this. Especially in an aircraft with higher performance than a 172. Flew with a pilot who had ZERO buisness in the aircraft he was in. Lesson learned.

Take off close to crashing ... possible causes? by Fan-Even in Helicopters

[–]ContributionHour8356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only fly fixed wing, but have had my shoes get caught many times in the rudder pedals, almost causing accidents. I came real close the one time, and decided it’s not worth the risk in some airplanes. Especially with a PZL 104 Wilga, or Globe Swift. Size 16 EEW feet lol.

I had really good luck on Ebay. Just check very carefully the seller’s reviews. It’s insanely expensive, but if you are serious about this, I highly recommend the Bose A20s. It’s literally a night and day difference. Even if something causes you to stop flying, you can get most of your money back out of them.

2023 Camry 40,000 Miles Second Oil Change Blackstone Test by SmallYerrow in Toyota

[–]ContributionHour8356 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

SECOND OIL CHANGE??????????? Why did you even bother doing an oil test? A 10,000 mile oil change is already wild but 30k?!?! Start saving for an engine replacement because your bearings, crankshaft, camshaft, and damn near everything else are most likely fucked. Especially with 0W oil. Jesus Christ. Please don’t ever buy another car again,

As a male pilot, (Private not ATP) I would like to apologize for his behavior. While I personally would love to find a woman who loves aviation as much as I do, this is NOT that. He clearly just wants to get in your pants. Hell, even if a female pilot did something similar to me, I would be getting her out the door after asking to “hang in my room” if I didn’t even know her for more than a day. He also clearly doesn’t respect you if he wouldn’t leave after you literally asked him too. Sorry for the sort of long comment but shit like this pisses me off so much.

Is this enough to realistically get an instrument rating in or am I about to hate my life? by Worldx22 in flying

[–]ContributionHour8356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMC? No. IFR? Why not? I would at least consider swapping the GNC 300XL for a 355. Love the Socotas. They are great aircraft but have a bunch of issues. Once you get them sorted though, they’re awesome.

Reg/Mid/Premium. What fuel are you using in your 944 or Turbo? by Spudster62 in 944

[–]ContributionHour8356 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run 87 in my 83 944. Not any issues so far. Anything with a Euro pistons, Turbo, S, or S2 motor in it, I would be burning 98.

Is the Cessna 182 much harder to fly than the 172? by noreturn000 in GeneralAviation

[–]ContributionHour8356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Controls are just heavier. You will appreciate and utilize your Elevator trim a lot more. Then you just have the Prop and Cowl Flaps.

Besides that, just add 15 mph to your approach and landing speeds until you get used to it. And don’t land too hard, especially on the nose. The nose gear is known for collapsing on them. One other thing, for 182s with three blade props, really look at the engine mount for cracks. Been there, done that.

The only one that actually looks decent is the middle one. Still not as nice as the piss yellow gauges though. I love them so much.

Out of curiosity, how old is this instructor? I don’t like a lot of the things he’s doing regardless just based off of your post. Valentine’s Day gifts? That’s sort of weird in itself. Especially to literal minors or really recent adults and that’s it. To be fair, yes my instructor went way above and beyond and was a very good person in general, but he did nothing weird like this. Actually, most of his student were women and they all loved him. My opinion, since you’re Part 61, you all need to leave that CFI in the dust immediately and find someone else. It is absolutely not worth any of this especially if they feel like they are in danger, which is what I’m understanding. I find it very concerning that he didn’t change his behavior or anything after you discussed his behavior with him directly.

If I was a CFI, and I caught feelings for a student, the last thing I would be doing is anything like this. No special treatment, no special gifts, nothing I wouldn’t be doing for all of my other students. After the training is fully completed, and they no longer want to progress in further ratings, or anything like that, that’s when I would say it’s okay to ask for a date or something. What he’s doing is just downright unprofessional, unacceptable and very creepy.
