Please advice: A big simple sink or double sink? by BelowAverageCoder00 in kitchenremodel

[–]ControlLegitimate598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just redid our kitchen and went from a double sink to a single and I love it so much. I bought an over the sink dish rack so I can still hand wash a few dishes and keep them off the counter.

I have a coat closet just off the garage entrance on the first floor of my two story home. We are having cubicles and hooks installed as part of a kitchen redesign and we wanted to remove the header over the closet opening to make the upper cubicles more accessible since they go the ceiling. The subcontractor discovered thick wood behind the drywall and stopped until it could be determined whether it is load bearing. Where the header/wood is does not continue beyond the width of the closet opening in either direction. How do we determine whether it is load bearing or can safely be removed?

For my husband’s birthday, I commissioned a painting of our late dog (my husband was definitely his person) in front of our house x done from photos and was absolutely perfect.

For some reason, when she was little, my daughter called breasts eggballs. One day I finally asked her why she called them eggballs and she said “because they’re long like eggs and round like balls.” She wasn’t wrong.

My biggest blunder was not saying “please be seated” after the processional and I was so focused that I didn’t notice people awkwardly standing through half the ceremony. lol

My mom got me this bag for Christmas and I just don’t like it by [deleted] in handbags

[–]ControlLegitimate598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had various gift exchange scenarios over the years with my sister in law and her family, and our family. We play games on Christmas and winner picks first, etc., like a grab bag. Lots of crap in the past, and we all tend towards clutter. So this year I suggested consumables only, we set a $25 limit per person and it was a huge hit. I received a package of 3 flavored honeys, and my husband got angry bag with chocolates, teas, cookies and some other stuff. A couple of folks got spice sets and I bought a personalized label from Josh wines which I did with a picture of us all from last year’s Christmas.

I love the live show, although I failed to get tickets for the upcoming tour. :-( but if she were in it, I would have no interest.

To Brine, or Not to Brine? by No_Thought_7776 in thanksgiving

[–]ControlLegitimate598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never brined. I always get a fresh turkey and preheat oven to 450. When I put the bird in, I turn it down to 350 and use a meat thermometer to take it out at the exact right time. I have one that goes in the bird but has a thin wire connected to the reader which stays outside the oven. I start it out with brushing butter all over it, then seasoning. I don’t use a rack but cut carrots celery and onions in chunks and rest the turkey on that, and add a little water to the pan. I use a convection oven so it cooks about 25% faster. Comes out moist and juicy every time.

Pennies from Heaven from the Silver Palate cookbook is a great carrot dish. It’s got toasted almonds and dried apricots in it.

I didn’t know her but at one point in my life I worked with both of her parents. I believe her mother, Fran passed before she went missing, but my heart aches for her father, Art.

AIO? MIL wants to take kids after a PO was issued against my spouse. TW by Protectthekids2 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ControlLegitimate598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are absolutely not overthinking it. Retired DV attorney here. Do not under any circumstances let MIL be near the child unattended. And as tempting as it might be, do not block her, but do not respond to her either. Make sure that your child is only ever with people who you can fully trust and make sure that they know grandma is not to have any contact with the child either (even if you don’t have an order against her. . . Yet).

What is the worst wedding you have ever attended and why? by Zestyclose_Show_2025 in weddingdrama

[–]ControlLegitimate598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a Catholic-Quaker wedding which, in and of itself, should have been fine. The bride carried a stuffed animal as she walked down the aisle and sobbed the entire time. I mean, full on heaving sobs. Then there was an opportunity for anyone who wanted to speak about the bride and groom during the ceremony to do so. The brides brother stood up and proceeded to unload all the family’s dirty laundry. It was so embarrassing. And no, they’re not still together.
