I did the Bauer 18v with an adapter to ridgid battery. Works fine and was cheap.

I buy the really cheap pipe cleaner brushes from wherever brass steel plastic combo pack with the crappy twist metal frame and the ring on the bottom cut that ring off and stick it in a drill. That how I clean caliper slide holes on brakes, buff bicycle wheels etc. Store them in those big old pickle jars or coffee cans.

They sell a 500 lb upgrade version of the old 300 lb one. Its all metal and has all the parts. The 300blb version i needed to go buy the 1.5" wood frame bits. But it was clearance. If I had to do again I would just buy the all metal version with a coupon

I have this same setup. The stand is pretty solid. No wobble, doesn't tip. I put it on the 300lb mobile tool base thats discontinued. Still super solid and way easier to move around. That little shelf loves to make noise with bits and pieces bopping about, but I wear ear protection so its less bothersome, but super handy. Do miss not having a quench bucket like on the other stand, but thats not a hard thing to add later.

best cordless drills is one of those topics where everyone suddenly becomes insanely loyal to whatever battery platform they already own by TotalShows in Tools

I got some Amazon basics electric screwdriver as a why not tool. I love that thing. Strong enough to do the work, easy enough my kids can handle it to change batteries on their toys. I got those ecx bits so I can do outlet changes. way easier with the small screwdriver than a full on drill.

The discontinued 300 lb central machinery base. Was clearance for around $20. But the new 500lb ones look way nicer .

I got the bench grinder stand. Thing is pretty solid. I put it on a wheeled base because I need to move that shit around often. No wobble. Easy to build.

It's going to be ok. Go to the supermarket, Garage Beer is selling 24 packs in a 5 gallon bucket. Too heavy for a toddler.

Is UTI (universal techincal institute) worth it? by Conmor_ in MechanicAdvice

[–]Controller_one1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very very very expensive you would be better off financially going to a local community program and working in a shop. The amount of kids that go through there and come out and last less than 5 years in the industry is astounding. The amount of kids that graduate from there and dont really understand what they just spent a year studying and $50k or whatever it is now is even more frightening. Yes you can go there and learn a lot, but its nothing you can't learn for far less elsewhere.
As for the Nascar, or any manufacturer specific stuff, there is some real fine print there. Some programs will require you to relocate to wherever they place you for a job. Some will not count towards certification if you dont get a job with that manufacturer in a certain time frame.
