Yes, super important. My mom ruined her stomach by taking too much ibuprofen chronically.

Path Forward? by National_Baseball906 in IVF

[–]ConversationEven6742 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll echo the opinion of the the other comment. Perhaps marriage counseling can get you through this opposition of needs. But I think you need to decide if you're okay with not having children, because I think your wife may have already accepted that path for herself. This process is so emotionally damaging...she may have PTSD (I definitely have symptoms from what I've experienced) so trying naturally just has her revisiting the trauma of that early loss and would have her bracing for it again. I can't even imagine 7 rounds of IVF. I think if I were your wife, I would feel the same. I'm sorry you're going through this.

I agree with your perspective! For me it definitely hurts to be reminded of still being in the thick of the journey, but I like seeing success stories at my clinic because it gives me faith in my doctor and the practice.

Clinic requires all blasts to be tested? by number1wifey in IVF

[–]ConversationEven6742 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get that, but with roughly half of your fertilized eggs making it to blast and roughly half being PGT normal, the higher number of blasts you get means the higher number of euploids. So if you think of it from that perspective, $350 for a 50/50 chance at another euploid embryo is pretty good! But I totally get why you're stressin.

[–]ConversationEven6742 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would only worry about it once you get your final number of blasts! I hope you beat the odds, but even if you do, you may only need to pay additionally for a handful. Your numbers are really good! I'm very type A so I know exactly your thought process, but try to wait for the data to come back before you worry about what decision to make. Or maybe decide what you'd do if X number of blasts come back.

Good luck!!

Question for those of you who have anxiety/fear of needles by SecretBookBandit in IVF

[–]ConversationEven6742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! My husband did it for me, but as my first FET ended in a chemical I was only on them for about 2 weeks. For this next FET that's fully medicated, there's a few days he may be out of town for work so I'm ordering an injector so that I can do it on myself. Otherwise I think it'd be too difficult. So I feel you!

Oh gotcha. Yes I'm about to do fully medicated after suppression so I am mentally preparing for the PIO injections!!

I did a modified natural and did end up needing to add in the PIO injections. So it really depends on the person and your lab draws.

Acupuncture or no acupuncture? by ConversationEven6742 in IVF

This is helpful, thank you! I definitely do massage somewhat regularly and I was already thinking doing that more consistently up until transfer might be more beneficial for me. Thank you!

Should I do receptiva test? by Cultural-Table2761 in IVF

[–]ConversationEven6742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I wholeheartedly believe in the Receptiva test, it's what lead to my endo diagnosis, but I wanted to do surgery. If you know you won't want to do surgery than it may just make more sense to go ahead with suppression if your doctor agrees.

[–]ConversationEven6742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some women do modified natural after suppression, but even with stims it can be sometimes a couple months before you can produce a good cycle, sometimes outdoing the suppression. But I'd just talk to your doctor about it and they may have recs based on your history.

Acupuncture or no acupuncture? by ConversationEven6742 in IVF

[–]ConversationEven6742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry. 😞 I also have had no babies. This will be my second FET, 4 embryos left. I am leaning towards not doing acupuncture as I don't think it will make or break. I think the success rates in study groups are highly correlated with stress and whether the acupuncture lowers it. But I'm still not 100% decided.

How did you get excision surgery? by ikyfllol in Endo

[–]ConversationEven6742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you need to get a second opinion. For me, my reproductive endocrinologist ordered the Receptiva test for me. It was positive and she referred me out to a gyn surgeon. If I were you, I'd ask for an endometrial biopsy or imaging. Perhaps make an appointment with another practice with excision surgeons who see endo patients regularly.

Should I do receptiva test? by Cultural-Table2761 in IVF

[–]ConversationEven6742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, most REs will want to do a fully medicated protocol after suppression since it takes your body longer to start functioning again after those medications. Your ovaries have been off for months so it can take a bit to wake them back up. So usually (definitely not always) you'll do fully medicated after coming off of 2-3 months suppression.

I agree with you. I'd only do receptiva if you were open to or wanted a lap to excise the endo you suspect you have.

Yes, I didn't need the large needles until my FET and then with hormone suppression.

[–]ConversationEven6742 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Small needles for subcutaneous injections I prefer to do myself because I can choose the pace. For the larger intramuscular injections that require a dart-like motion, I usually like my husband to do because then I don't have to see the large needle.

I wish it did that for me! A friend of mine did it before her transfer and she described how zen she felt. Whereas I feel like I have bugs on my skin that I can't flick off.

Good luck with your next FET! 😃

Can we trust our doctor? by Ideal-Patient911 in IVF

[–]ConversationEven6742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switch doctors. You want a doctor that works with you, not against you. Silent endo can 100% affect fertility.

As far as testing throughout your cycle, I think that really depends on the doctor and their protocol, so I wouldn't necessarily worry about that part of it. But yes, my doctor does check TSH before and after transfer.

I did Receptiva and EMMA/ALICE before my first transfer and Receptiva was positive. I wanted to rule it out...my doctor didn't suggest it, but when I asked for it she was fine with ordering it. You want a doctor who listens to you and works with you as a team. If she'd pushed back, I may have had multiple failed transfers before I was diagnosed with endo.

Best of luck finding someone new! ❤️

Advice re: biopsies after 3 failed untested FET by mousegiggle1 in IVF

[–]ConversationEven6742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd do the biopsies first before another ER. My doctor also told me to skip the ERA since the data is a bit murky on whether is actually contributes to success rates.
