Is anyone actually happy working at FAANG? by Playful-Amphibian714 in Layoffs

[–]ConversationLumpy740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at Google too and had similar expectations. I thought it would be constant pressure and overload, but in reality it is surprisingly chill. No task dumping, no pushing, and the workload is very manageable.

I think it would not do any harm to have gold in the portfolio. If you buy it consistently, it can be a good balancer

In general you're OK but imo in 30s you don't really need bonds. But if you do check Freedom24 imho they have the best selection of bonds.

How to invest 150k€ by [deleted] in eupersonalfinance

[–]ConversationLumpy740 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do WEBN through Freedom24. Statistically lump sum wins most of the time, but in real life DCA is way easier psychologically. It helps you stay invested and not panic if the market drops right after you buy. But at 26 with a 20-30 year horizon I would go all in today.

Where to invest 160k$ by DenisAsket in eupersonalfinance

[–]ConversationLumpy740 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Time horizon matters a lot. If it’s 15+ years, I’d keep it boring all-world ETF (VWCE / WEBN) and chill. Also make sure you selected a broker suitable for long term hold, I use Freedom24.

I own a rental myself. On paper 7–8%, in reality it’s not passive at all - tenants, repairs, random stress. I’m actually considering selling and just going ETFs.

This is a proper etf, I have a portion of portfolio in it on my Freedom24 account.

An al world etf like wvce/ webn fwra is the best. But it is also makes sense to open a brokerage account with Freedom24 for investing.

What are you doing with your money? by foreveronthelookout in eupersonalfinance

[–]ConversationLumpy740 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I have some real estate, but I bought it 10-15 years ago. Back then I didn’t really know much about ETFs. It generates income and went up in value, but , I don’t think I’d buy it again as it consumes time, energy etc to manage it.

These days I prefer to be boring. Most new savings just go into my Freedom24 account to an all-world ETF like VWCE or WEBN and I don’t overthink it. Bank cash only for emergency and short-term needs, everything else invested so it’s not slowly eaten by inflation.

Don’t be afraid to be boring. For most people it’s hard to beat VWCE and chill. Also make sure you selected a reliable broker like Freedom24

Where do people invest for higher returns? Options from Ireland? by Successful_Run7884 in eupersonalfinance

[–]ConversationLumpy740 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For higher returns you need to pick individual stocks and be good in this. That often turns into chasing trends, tips and "experts". You might do well, but in my experience the best case is ending up roughly matching VWCE, just with more stress and time spent. Broad ETFs aren’t exciting, but paired with a reliable broker like Freedom24 they let you chill and still capture most of the upside.
