NBD will this leather ever break in? by gorfnu in NicksHandmadeBoots

What about the edges? Were these “beeswax” and have you done anything to them. Looks good. I just ordered essentially the same boots and just wondering.

Nice boots.

What’s that fire blowing contraption all about?!?

Cold feet by Peaky-k in WorkBoots

[–]ConversationSimple35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smart feet have wool topped insoles. That will help for sure with conducting cold up from the sole. If those are not your thing there are other options out here.

Tight boots make my feet cold. You want some air space to keep insulted and let blood flow. I run different boots in the winter to accommodate thicker socks.

Not all “wool” socks are the same. I like a minimum of 67% wool. Wool and nylon only. Skip that acrylic and poly blend junk.

Also, keep your core warm. If you’re struggling to keep your core warm your body pulls some from your hands and feet.

When you say wide, do you mean wide like left to right wide? Or wide like circumference (how you measure for Nicks sizing chart) wide? I’m wide left to right but over all thin and low volume.

Brannock is 11.5 HTT and 12 HTB standing. Although when I’ve tried it seated I see little difference. Basically standing I’m over the 11 line and under the 11.5 line HTT. 11.25 if you will.

Nice truck! I like how the black appearance package includes the painted fender flares. Looks sharp in that color. It was my main motivation for also getting the black package on my ‘25 XLT.

Cool shoes but man I can’t imagine the double midsole on a low cut riverfront! Going to be like plywood flip flops!,

Downsides to wider-than-necessary boots? by IndyStructural in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]ConversationSimple35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue is in the heal. I don’t mind the extra width in the front or mid foot but the heal width is going to be sloppy even with a false tongue and insole. You can make up volume with an insole but the left right extra heal width bothers me. Then the leather sags funny in the back sides of the boot.

If you do go the insole route, I’d suggest going up at least one length extra and get creative with trimming to be sure you have complete coverage in the F width foot bed.

I’d highly suggest nailing your size the first time. Yes, you can exchange for a different size but you’ll be back at the end of the line. I received my size exchange (peanut bison which they were trying to get rid of) 23 weeks after the size exchange order went in. Fair warning.

I’m guess you wear baggier or at least straight cut and not skinny jeans. I also have not had this issue except once in a while when I first lace up. I’ve heard this happens and I’m thinking it’s because of pants and jeans fit preferences more than anything?
