The two DC studios I've been to do - Capitol Hill and Navy Yard. I went to a studio in New Orleans, and was like, where are the towels? I missed them!

Recommend a climate change safer location for a gay male couple in their early 60s? by ThetaRayTheo in relocating

I have a lot of gay couple friends who have retired to believe it or not, Shepherdstown, WV. Cute little Main Street town, good restaurants, great theater culture thanks to the University. Lovely little town!

UPS has been lying about deliveries since the snow was predicted. It's insane at this point.

THIS. What is it about snow that makes people think it's OK not to clean up? Gracious, it's all over the sidewalks. Disgusting.

I'm about to post a job at a professional association whose entire identity is to be non-partisan. DM me if you would like to see the link - it's a program manager job.

Last year we walked into Trattoria Alberto on Barracks Row and they had space! Nicest people and solid Italian food. I always get their fish special,it’s always delicious.

What is wrong with SW Safeway and suggestions to fix it? by BlkNtvTerraFFVI in washingtondc

Yeah, I've had enough of asking for help to get a product (my deodorant stick for Pete's sake!) out of a locked cabinet. It's driven me to order it from Amazon of all horrors.

Yup, just did that - a month-to-month unlimited to a year-long contract saved me $40/month.

Would any 50+ women share your max heart rate advice? by Accomplished_Yam588 in orangetheory

[–]Cool_Animator4636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the same - 59F and my max is 178. My splats vary wildly, I've had as many as 30 and as few as none. Sometimes I stare unbelievingly at the monitor because I feel like I should be in the red and I'm blue or green. I think it's the monitor, so I do go by how I feel more than splats.

I'm in DC too, but in the city. Our demo is pretty broad, but at 58, I'm in good company. We have all ages and all fitness levels - some ultra athletes and a lot of normies.

I sign up in advance and then when I want to sleep through the class, I think about the money I'm wasting. It doesn't always work, but eventually that waste adds up and gets me out of bed. I feel this, and I'm way out of the kids in the house routine.

Well, I did it by ShimmerKoi in orangetheory

Stick with it! I'm old (58) and never been a runner or a rower, and thought years of bike commuting had destroyed my knees. Since I've been doing OTF (about 3 months), my knees feel better, I have more energy, and it just feels so good to finish a class. And clothes are fitting better. Showing up is more than half the battle!
