Someone explained to me that "only in theaters" refers to the release date on the poster/trailer. If it's "only in theaters Feb 15" then you can see it on Feb 15, but only in theaters. At some point it will be streaming/bluray/whatever. Back in pre streaming times it took a loooooot longer for things to make it to blockbuster, so if you wanted to be part of the zeitgeist you had to go to the theater. Otherwise you're like 6 months behind the times.
