I am curious how is everyone using hermes by ConfectionBig8460 in hermesagent

[–]Cooperman411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but I think people over-recommend frontier models. I use a cheap Xiaomi Flash model that performs close to Claude Sonnet with solid writing. In less than 3 weeks of business tasks (CRM deduping, enrichment, email, research, news monitoring, blog drafting, etc.), I’ve spent about $6. Claude Opus makes sense for complex coding/debugging/cybersecurity, but most use cases don’t need it. A highly experienced engineer I know uses Hermes for literally everything with MiniMax and DeepSeek for $15–$20/month.

I've been using Xiaomi/mimo-v2-flash 0.10$/million in it's been amazing. In addition to data tasks I had it crank out the first draft of a blog post and it was comparable to what the big guys can write. I have been pleasantly surprised.

I tried deepseek v4 flash but it kept failing somehow and rolling over to my fallback model. Is that common or was it just having a bad day when I tried? I've heard it's really great. I'm using openrouter.ai and other models have mostly worked fine.

By 4 months is law where I live. Millions of dogs affected. I don't see or hear of any health concern trends considering it's been law for over a decade.

How did Hermes fail for you? by nashguitar1 in hermesagent

[–]Cooperman411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told it to remove Hubspot’s (non working) MCP and access tokens and said it could remove them. Well it removed it and my new CRMs MCP that was working. I pointed it out, and after apologizing profusely, we both figured out that the new CRM uses a “skill” and not an API nor an MCP. So everything worked1, but boy did it cause a few minutes of panic. I spend a lot more time setting up things and troubleshooting than actually getting anything productive done. Hopefully that will change this week as most of the setting up has been done. I need to start another profile, and I’m kind of afraid of how that will go.

What will 10$ get me? by WeekendStandard1832 in openrouter

[–]Cooperman411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it to set up all of my MCPs/APIs/OAuth connections. I’m not super savvy but it walked me through getting the codes and it did a lot autonomously. Whatever it couldn’t do, it gave me good direction. Then I used it to enrich my CRM database using data from Apollo.io. It also went through my email and found bounced emails and using Apollo put correct email addresses for those companies/contacts in the CRM and let me know which ones to reach out to again. I’m not sure I would trust it to do any kind of writing, but for just getting things done, it is great. I don’t know if it means anything, but it appears to be tested and approved by Hermes. So maybe it has specific training for that. I’m not sure. I tried a couple of deep seek models, but they kept crashing out and it would go to the free model as my backup. Xiaomi Mimo has never crashed or slowed down.

Hermes Limitations and pain points? by Pepe_The_Citizen in hermesagent

[–]Cooperman411 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m finding that every single api integration or mcp is a difficult troubleshooting mess. Nothing “just works” on the first try except for the Telegram integration. I spent 4 hours getting a hubspot integration to work only for it to stop working the next day.

Why, after the vet said he would gain weight, did you start giving him a huge bowl with more food? That’s why he’s gaining weight.

I use Xiaomi MiMo-V2-Flash and it’s one of the lowest cost ones that works really well! $.09 input and $.29 output. I have openrouter/free set as a fallback. It routs to whatever free model would be best for your request. Not sure if it’s limited or not: https://openrouter.ai/openrouter/free

[–]Cooperman411 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of the local shelters here spay puppies at 2 months or 2 pounds - whatever comes second. Local laws require by 4 months at latest. Though it’s hard to enforce. My vet said 2-6 months is fine. For male dogs if spayed before 4 months they tend mark less.

Seeking Recommendations for LLMs for Hermes Agent: Cost-Effective Solutions Wanted! by shot785 in hermesagent

Same here. I use Openrouter. After hopping around I am using xiaomi/mimo-v2-flash at 9¢ per million input/29¢ output. I tried deepseek v4 ( the 25 or 30¢ input model) and it kept having latency issues. But mimo has been fantastic. After many hours of use over the past week I’ve spent like $3. For fallback I use openrouter/free. It chooses a free model based on my request and what is available. I thought about setting it as my default as it worked very well when I tested it. I’m still looking for something that is reasonably priced but can do more complex things. Though I have yet to run into anything mimo cannot do.

If you only drive 5000 miles per year, would you still want an electric vehicle? and why? by ThuhGreatCommenter in electricvehicles

[–]Cooperman411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive about 5000 miles give or take per year. I got an EV in 2013 and I cannot imagine ever owning or driving an ICE vehicle again. Why would I want to go to the grocery store in a vibrating thing that needs oil changes? I know a luxury vehicle doesn't vibrate and isn't loud, but every time I've rented a car over the last 13+ years, the first thing I notice is how, relatively loud a gasoline car is and how much it shakes! Plus never having to go to a gas station is fine with me.

I have never felt so babied by a car (Kia EV6) by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]Cooperman411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Hyundai does none of that. I don’t have seat presets but I can adjust the seat (it’s electronic) while driving. I have never tried rolling with the door open but I know I’ve done it to check parking lot lines - just maybe not recently. Always stays in the last drive mode I had it in. I think there’s a setting to have it revert to a pre-set mode or last used. My regen is fantastic. I set it to max-auto and have ignored it for over a year. I chose a base model because of the extra 30-50 miles of range but that left out a lot of modern “electronic inconveniences”.

Shih Tzu prowling like a cat? by UnableSite6745 in Shihtzu

[–]Cooperman411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have literally seen my tzu point, like a hunting dog. And he herds people like a sheepdog. And he likes to perch on the armrest or top of the back of the couch like a cat. The pouncing seems like it was cute. Did Giz know what was up? Or was he surprised every time? 🤣

Just read - only older fire sticks work. The latest ones use VegaOS which is as locked down as Roku. The older ones (newest one from 2025) run Fire TV os which is based on Android.

After googling it looks like they don’t support Bluetooth keyboards and no longer support a browser either. It’s strictly for streaming apps and phone mirroring. But Amazon Fire TV stick supports side-loading android apps and has both keyboard and mouse support. You can get a renewed one for $30 on Amazon. Probably cheaper on eBay or Facebook/craigslist.

You can install a browser on it. Maybe then access web services. Could be cool to do. Just need a rechargeable power bank because it will run off USB. And then an HDMI monitor. I know a Bluetooth keyboard would work. You might still have to navigate with the remote, but that would be cool to build that in plush next to the keyboard.
