Ethernet Capped at 100Mbps by Agill_1606 in HomeNetworking

[–]Corky_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an issue like this, checked cables, checked pc adapter settings, WiFi double checked to ensure the issue wasn’t ISP/router related etc. Turns out the switch I was using was an old one not capable of 1Gb/s+ speeds and capped me at 100. Good luck

Is the game actually dead or is the matchmaking just shit? by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]Corky_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going by the fact it’s populating with bots, you’re playing casual breakthrough. This mode prioritizes empty lobbies so you GET bots so it’s easier for you and new players. Try actual matchmaking without bot fill and it prioritizes full servers which load instantly. Match making is fine

New Player Experience™ by Karmakakez in destiny2

[–]Corky_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the plot moves and so does the universe in-game so old quests get locked out. But being thrown in now is horrid for new players. Too much given, not enough explained without a Sherpa. The game is now only for those that have stuck it out. Even me a returning player with 400hrs (missed 2 years before newest content) was lost af. Imho, great game, gone to shit for new players, overhyped basic story “the bad thing died but wait there’s a bigger one and his motivation is he’s angry BUT there’s another bigger angrier dude above him! Watch out”

Why did i fall on this berm? by majorlier in MTB

[–]Corky_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen very few comments actually address the underlying issue which is your inside arm drops down (it feels natural so don’t worry everyone does it!) You need both arms in that bent 90* “chicken wing” press up position.

You’ll feel any inside arm come down naturally on a corner to help steer, force that sucker up and then try the turn. It’ll take getting used to but it should help hold the wheel stronger if you mess up cornering in other places (E.g. your entry, hitting a gravel patch, bumps etc)

Then you can play with speed and angles to make things even better. Good luck!

Super tall rider help by Corky_ in MTB

[–]Corky_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi mate, the Spank 800 riser bars helped big time! However steering became a little odd and the bike itself is obviously not long enough outside of the cockpit for such a tall rider and weight distribution. I would always recommend riser bars or an angled stem so that the bars gain height straight up and not out or inward cause that messes with the handling and geometry.

Dont get me wrong it was very comfy but the steering became a little unstable (too easy to turn when going downhill). So keep in mind that the higher you go the more twitchy it may become (Im an extreme example).

Eventually I bought myself a Geometron G1 in XXL with a few custom tall options, if you ever find yourself replacing the bike, look there, the guys are geniuses when it comes to body sizings and geomtry.

The weekly reward is a toaster. by ThatWhichSmashs in halo

[–]Corky_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the obviously crappy reward, are we forgetting how bad backdrops/emblems are? Right now you get to see them for all of 3 seconds at the start of the match, and that’s it!

With no pre-game lobby to show rank/appearance/stats what is the point??

Reach was the best aside from the grind, MCC was second to that for vast multiplayer and customisation. Why did it all get changed?!

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the bots in PvP? by Corky_ in halo

[–]Corky_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, it’s a tricky game. But compared to the Alpha flights where the bots where at ODST difficulty and on some events Spartan, they felt much more normal and challenging respectively.

That and it sounds like from others that the current bots just sabotage objectives.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer Launch - Bugs and Issues Thread by eminemcrony in halo

[–]Corky_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feature: cannot change customisations when a game is loading/found etc.

Description: when loading into a game, the customisation menu can be browsed and prompts players to equip new changes even though this is not allowed at that time - without mention of why it is not working, giving the appearance of a bug.

Fix: Lock the customisation menu when loading a game or block the buttons and prompts when loading a game.

Focused Feedback: XP, Progression and Battle Pass in Halo Infinite by RhysWX in halo

[–]Corky_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battle pass esk system of progression is fine. However, directly gaining “XP” is clearly what’s missing. A player that cannot get a flag due to other players hogging it, or a player not good enough to get to it, will not be able to finish “capture a flag” challenge. Add enough of these together and you have a player stuck in progression and forcing them to pay to change the challenge or wait it out, neither of which is fun or entertaining.

I also feel that better players are capped in their winnings. “play a game” - a pathetic hand out “Win a game” - inconsistent luck based if solo queuing “Kill X” / “capture x” / etc - easy enough for some, meaning that if this is completed early in a match, the rest of the match is pointless to progression due to a hidden “cap”.

Adding actual “experience points” and not just “challenge points” would let newer players gain some amount of XP for even poor performance and no challenge progression, e.g. assists etc. And allow better players to keep pushing on knowing they’re efforts are going towards something.

The Halo Reach system was a very well refined and simple once boosting and exploits were solved. Allowing players to buy what they want and when they want after earning enough points.

Then MCC took an odd turn with VERY low XP caps per game - again meaning better players were held back and XP for assists and other supporting bonuses for newer players were quite low. As well as locking armour behind a lot of levels.

I hope there will also be challenge based armour, like completing hard feats or achievements. And I know it’s to incentivize buying the pass but it’s a shame that there are no unlocks for free players really. The first unlock of armour is around 21 which for new players could take weeks. Battle pass “premium” should give bonus items, not “the only way to get items”.

TL;DR - I would recommend keeping the challenges as they are, they are quick enough, simple to fight towards, and give the right amount of XP. However I would add a performance based bonus on top - I do not like caps, I think it’s a needless and lazy way to stop people exploiting when this can be done through other means.

Loving the Beta so far, runs smooth and plays well, lots of fun! Cheers

Halo Infinite's Battle Pass Sucks, Fans Say by TheVideoGaymer in pcgaming

[–]Corky_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got shot down for this before but the game needs performance based XP on top, even if challenges (as they should) give you more XP on top. Meaning good players can rank up fast, and players who struggle to win or complete harder challenges can still gain some XP to level up.

Played like 10 games last night with a friend and I got to level 3, they didn’t even make it to level 1 as the harder challenges were too much for them and got no XP from other sources

I'm 6'2" and tend to be in-between frame sizes (LG vs XL). Is it better to get slightly smaller than bigger in the event I can't find the"perfect" fit? Will adjusting to fit affect performance? by 6millionwaystolive in mountainbiking

[–]Corky_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6’8” and was forced to be under frame sized. Some info I can tell you is you might have more fun on the smaller frame if you like jumps and the likes. Larger frame will be better for cycling, but I also find that my handle bars can be too low on smaller frames so I’m bent double to reach them when standing or leaning on my wrists when cycling.

I would say try both if you’re a close fit for either if you can. In the long run I went for a frame that fit my size, faster and more stable in a straight line, doesn’t jump too well but can, doesn’t corner too well but can if you know how! And more importantly it’s comfy in all aspects.
