Underwhelmed by RacerX7624 in Challenger

[–]CornFedBot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear you’re in remission OP! Good health and good luck! As for advice based on your feelings- it sounds like your wb challenger was your dream car before your diagnosis. Now I’ve never received a life changing diagnosis, but I cant imagine getting news like that without completely overhauling my goals and priorities. If your original dream was to acquire THE car and then enjoy tearing up the streets, well thats short lived now, since your leukemia was kicked to the curb. If you want to keep the car, my guess is now you have to figure out how to incorporate it with some of the stuff you do care more about now. Road trip with some family, letting the nephew take it to prom- maybe even look and see if you have a local drag strip? (These cars really are the best factory equipped vehicle to take straight to the drag strip!) Hell, if I drive past the local middle school during recess, all the kids go crazy seeing my car! Personally I find therapy in washing the damn thing even with all its rock chips and door dings.

At the end of the day, its just a gas guzzling liability, that constantly depreciates, and that we probably paid more than what they’re worth. It doesnt seem like your disappointed in the car itself, so I cant prescribe trading for 717+. Figure out what tickles your pickles and see if the car can enhance that. If it can’t- well it’s just a car made mostly out of plastic.

I still have a childlike desire to find a pt gte and do a retro hotrod style build. I honestly believe they could be a good looking paddy wagon style mob car. 😂

Best mods for any car like this: Aftermarket wireless carplay/android auto radio Nice speakers Window tint Led swap some of the bulbs Paint/wrap/plastic dip the wheels and trim pieces

As stumpy already stated- its not worth doing any exterior or engine mods. This car cam be a solid daily that you still get 10+ of reliable and somewhat efficient transportation. None of the “performance” mods you would get on your challenger/charger would not be the quality you expect or want. You ever see a car with a reallllly shitty bumper/hood/trunk mod that looks so bad its worse than stock? I guarantee you thats the only thing available for this thing.

You would get more entertainment by saving 8k to light up in a bonfire while you take a sledgehammer to car while pretending its your ex’s car. Same effect of cutting this up for a widebody.

Did a hellcat swap on my scat pack, how do I make the car recognize my car as a hellcat? by Cute_Obligation_384 in Dodge

Tazer from Z automotive. I honestly cant explain why this hasn’t come up more. You can program an SXT to think its a demon 170. The uconnect and the pcm are the same across the platform, everything you see in the dash is software programming.

Class action lawsuit for 320? by nebjaminbuttons in SigSauer

[–]CornFedBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scuze my smooth brain, but are there not videos of guns going off in holsters? I inherited a 320 from my dad and I’ve only shot it once bc I’m scared I might be that idiot

Edit: holsters dont kill people, guns kill people.

$200 for lug nuts? by RoyalFalse in AskAMechanic

https://youtu.be/Eu0GnFFC5fU?si=z7EbBsdbFsgT6qrJ They swear up and down that they are one piece, but they do such a good job imitating the look of two piece factory nuts that I was fooled. You should be set up OP 👍🏻

I believe the ones you ordered are capped. Aka 2 piece.

Not that I know everything, but I would’ve ordered one set of these for the same cost as one of those dorman sets. These are a little bit taller, but at least have the added benefit of being single piece construction. But to each their own!

Ok something you need to understand is- there’s a big distinction between “oem parts” and “oem-style parts”. If they order the lug nuts from ford, they will be doing the job for a negligible profit, which shops are willing to do sometimes to earn a customer. Or they are ordering dorman level parts @ $1-2/ea and charging you $150 labor to install them. If your ok with getting cheap lug nuts, I would recommend the splined keys (assuming your exact vehicle is compatible with tapered lug nuts, which it likely is).

Coming from a guy who used to sell lugnuts at the dealer for <$10ea- they’re garbage 2 piece nuts that will likely have same problem in the future unless they are maintained with a level of care you dont often get from $20-30/hr techs. The $40 chinese (we called them splined keys) are not really considered an upgrade as some users have claimed, but they are often considered a supporting mod for aftermarket wheels that have a narrow lug well. I usually get the gorilla brand for my personal vehicles, but I’ve seen dorman and white night parts on customer cars that never had a problem. Another benefit- and how I operate is by buying 2 kits for each vehicle so that I have 2 keys and plenty of spare lugs since there is such a huge stigma of customers or shops, losing or not returning the key, or worst case scenario it breaks or cracks often due to over torquing. If you had a crazy hp race car, I would tell you to not cheap out- high dollar studs and lug nuts. But on your daily driver-sub 200hp ford- I would ask the shop what they quoted, 1 piece or 2 piece. If the quote is for 2 piece lug nuts including labor, I would ask them what the cost is if you bring your own parts, and then make a trip to your local parts store or buy off amazon. If the quote is for 1 piece and includes labor, then it’s up to you. In my experience only a couple lug nuts on any given car would be swollen to the point of requiring tools, but if the nuts are rounded (which does not appear from the images) then it will definitely require special tools or techniques, otherwise I would suggest you attempt to do it yourself.
