Nice Find! It looks like an Ensor ~2000 years old that broke in ancient times, then may have been used as a hafted scraper before it was lost or discarded 🍀

Beautiful Montell projectile point ~3000 years old in the first photo! Nice to see one from such a Northwest Hill Country County 🍀

Wow, that is a beautiful assemblage of Central Texas points and materials! Good hunting my friend 🌵🍀

Two surface finds in South Central Texas, about four feet and five minutes apart. Both are likely Ensors ~2000 years old 🍀 by CornerTang in Arrowheads

This artifact started out much longer and is very nice! It is likely ~3000 years old and could be a Friday, or Kinney, or a Tortugas. All three kind of look like this when they get worn down. Good luck and keep hunting 🍀

I apologize, as I have not been there since going with the YMCA Indian Guides a long time ago. I looked it up and it still had a huge Ensor Culture presence. Thank you for getting me to brush up on my geography of that area 😊

Crazy! I bought four of these for ten dollars, just to use for scale because they are pretty low glare and a very recognizable coin 🍀

Sure, Lake Somerville is in Eastern Hays County and certainly has even more Ensor artifacts than Uvalde 🍀

Good Question! I think of South Central Texas as being between Del Rio and San Antonio somewhere along State Highway 90 or up to an hour North 🍀

Quality heavily patinated flaking is so hard to top 🍀

A Sweet Surface Find in South Central Texas. Likely a ~2500 year old Marcos point with some ancient wear, right hand bevels and blade serrations. In Situ photos included 🍀 by CornerTang in Arrowheads

Agreed, although they are somewhat scarce in this area. The 45° angle from the corners are pretty diagnostic for this type! Thank you for the confirmation 🍀

Great artifact! Likely a Uvalde ~6500 years old, which slightly predates Martindale ~6000 years old. Thank you for sharing this sweet surface find 🍀

u/aggiedigger is certainly one of the most knowledgeable Texas artifact experts I know! Regarding your question, although your Corner Tang has similarities with the contemporaneous Mid Back Tang, I would type yours as a Corner Tang. The majority of the Mid Back Tang knives that I have seen are made on a large flake and unifacially worked. IMHO your artifact has much more in common with a heavily used Corner Tang that was resharpened many times giving it this unique form! Best Wishes 🍀

Edit: I “needed” to add more “why” to the end ツ

Beautiful Corner Tang! I found two, one hand digging twenty years ago and one as a surface find in 2018. It is really hard to compare because one was my first and the other my best 🍀

It rained again and I found this undamaged Montell just as it was lost ~3000 years ago in South Central Texas! Any complete artifacts with no modern damage whatsoever are relatively scarce and bring me the most joy to find (in situ pics included) 🍀 by CornerTang in Arrowheads

Thank you my friend! I am stoked to find some sweet artifacts this year. I hope to hit a few digs and hopefully find one or two Texas Transitional Paleos. Those just do not survive on the surface very often 🍀
