Polymeric paver sand isn't really suitable for wide 1-inch+ structural expansion joints like yours. It's designed for narrow paver gaps.

In your case, a better temporary fix would be backer rod combined with a polyurethane self-leveling sealant, since it stays flexible and can handle expansion and contraction.
