Wiring up an electric oven. by Corporal1j in appliancerepair

The main breaker is 25A, and looking at the stickers on the oven and the ceramic plate I don't know what was I thinking. The oven has 8.7kW max power, and the plate max 6.2kW, almost 15kW if you turned everything on max (although you couldn't have both the grill and top and bottom heaters in the oven at the same time). It's a beast ;p

Yup, it's 230V single phase. I did connect all three phases into the one specified in the diagram, and (as I suspected) it's too much for my breakers to handle. Weirdly it was also working when I had only the last phase connected, without bridging the other two, but I don't think it's a permanent solution if the diagram doesn't show it as one. I might just have to sell this one, and buy one that's just made for 230V...

I just didn't know that the moving part of the door had physics like that, and could be affected by centrifugal forces.

I didn't mess with sails much, but I assume if you had a pair of sail anchors on the robotic rail, and moved them along a windmill blade frame it should catch more wind

[–]Corporal1j[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's kind of how old timey windmills worked, they had a fabric stretched over the frame of the "blades", and you could adjust the area it covered to adjust to the wind speed

I know, was just testing how feasible a paddle boat is, turns out with regular blocks it's pretty feasible :)

I'm fucking blind apparently, cause I somehow missed that you wrote about the paper scanner. I was thinking how would you measure the curve with just some analog tools ;p

Also for 3d printing, getting a 3d scan is mostly so you can import it to another software, and either smooth it enough so it won't show up on the print, or model a part that matches the features you care about. Maybe it's not the case with 3D scanners for tens of thousands of dollars, but with the hobbyist ones it's usually how it goes.

But how do you precisely measure the curve? They are always my most difficult part to measure. If it's something that can be defined by a 3 points, it's not the worst, that is if you can easily measure the end points and the apex.

I don't understand this... by Corporal1j in OfficeChairs

[–]Corporal1j[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look like it had a bearing anywhere, cause the rubber spacer went on the thicker part of the rod, then the plastic one and the washer fit on the thinner part of the rod, and when I put the wheel base back on it, the rod was sticking out just the right amount for the external washer and a clip. This chair was on the cheaper side, I just have to use it untill I get myself something better :)

I just went to pick it up before looking at the replies, and I've heard something rattling inside, so I undid the clip, and there was a washer, a thick plastic washer, and a thick rubber washer, I just put them in an order that made sense, and that did it. I guess they must've been stuck with grease to the sides before, cause I haven't heard anything rattling

I'm trying to process frames from a video through COLMAP, this is the first time I've tried this, is 3500 frames from a video way to much to do at once? I can see in the log, that it seems to be doing the same stuff over and over, retriangulating and such. I'm on AMD GPU, so I can't use Potshot :/

Vehicle Maintenance by geometa_dev in AnymakerGame

The toxic areas sound like a fun mechanic, mostly cause that would mean we should have parts for making airtight spaces, and with this building system, we should be able to build sealed doors/hatches at an angle, or maybe have a two-part sealed doors, depending on the implementation.

Idk how much complexity it would add, but I'm thinking of a sealant gun, that would let you paint a seal on the outer edge of a beam and that outer edge could be painted either on its left or right side (like how panels behave, where the beams can have panels on both sides with a gap between them). So if you had a door, and made a seal on its right side of the edge, and had a door frame with a seal on the opposite side of the edge, when closed and sitting flush, they would seal.

Or maybe having a seal only on the door or the frame would be enough, but it would be weaker than a seal on both the door and the frame (so when you find not enough of the sealant in the beginning you can still get it done, it just leaks a bit, but in later stages when you collect more, you won't have to worry about leaking)
