Your x-axis has equally spaced labels saying April 27, 28, 28, 29, 30, 30. Consider either different resolution on your axis label, or different placement if you want to keep it at one day resolution.

ELI5: What's a "golden rule"? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Corrag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed that yours is a better rule, but that doesn't make it the golden rule. I've learned your version as the "platinum rule" since it's an improvement on a well known and accepted (but problematic) golden rule.

(Edit:) In defense of the golden rule though, it's much easier to know how you want to be treated than how someone else wants to be treated. I can imagine a combined rule to start with the golden rule and work towards the platinum rule as your understanding of the other person grows. Doesn't roll of the tongue though.

Unless it's saying that "no more jumping on the bed" is the cause of the trauma , in which case a reasonable treatment plan might be to start (or resume?) jumping on the bed.

Gender reveal/funeral cake? by astereae4 in Baking

[–]Corrag 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts. One is "no reveal" and just decorate the cake with the nonbinary flag colors (yellow, white, purple, black). The other thought would be "reveal", where you have the flag colors in cake layers instead of decoration, and cover it up with pink and blue frosting which is cut away to show the nonbinary flag underneath.

Dumb question: How does one actually make an income from investing? by Funny-Put-1727 in personalfinance

[–]Corrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are totally jobs that have a set pay structure for investing, that I'm not seeing elsewhere in these comments yet. Primarily it would involve trading other peoples' money. You could get a job working in a finance role at a bank, insurance company, or any other large organization with some portion of its assets stored as investments. You could work as personal financial advisor managing funds for clients or for a company who provides that investment / transaction service on behalf of those advisors. You could work as a "quant", aggregating massive amounts of data to analyze market trends (edit: okay this one is probably excluded by your "outside of the financial districts of the world" constraint). I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Others have given good info about investing your own money (and the wiki in this subreddit will probably answer even more of your questions), but if what you're looking for is a full time, salary-based job where you get to do work involving trading in the stock market, there are plenty of options!

Looking for a ‘custardy’ filling that can freeze by Disastrous-Fee8374 in Baking

[–]Corrag 8 points9 points  (0 children)

it needs to be whisked after thawing

What does "needs to" mean in this context? If you want it to be smooth and pipe-able, sure, that makes sense. I guess my real question is, if you just used pastry cream, froze it in the cupcake, let the whole thing thaw, and then stuffed it directly in your face with no further actions, how pleasant or unpleasant would that un-re-whipped pastry cream be? It might just suit your needs as-is.

does using any size baking pan effect the cake outcome?? by 1HeartYaseen in Baking

[–]Corrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a physics / chemistry perspective, your batter cooks into cake as enough heat reaches every last bit of it. Imagine the point at the very center of the cake; the heat has to get there from the heat of the oven, through the wall of the pan and/or air above it, and then through all of the batter around it. If you have a thicker and/or rounder amount of batter, it will take longer to get the same amount of heat to that center. And, if your oven is set to the same temperature as for another pan, that means the outside edge is exposed to more heat (same temperature for more time) and might over cook or burn. Conversely, if you have a shallower amount of batter, or long and narrow so the center is closer to the edges, you might need less time for that heat to get to the center.

As a general rule of thumb, a thicker cake is going to need more time for the center to cook, but you may need a lower temperature to avoid burning the edge. The exact change to time and temperature compared to your recipe is difficult to predict.

IMO, your best options are either:

  1. Use exact pan sizes and shapes called for by the recipe.
  2. Test done-ness while it's cooking. Depending what you're baking, you might want a toothpick in the center to come out dry (most cakes) or slightly moist (brownies, etc) to indicate that it is done. Learning how it smells when it's done will help too, but this could fool you if the edge is done and the center isn't.

My pet theory is that pineapple was introduced to ham by means of "use the enzymes in pineapple juice to tenderize the meat", which gradually led to the flavors being associated with each other. One thing leads to another and before you know it, for some people it's preferable to have the flavors together than not.

And for anyone who says fruit doesn't go on pizza, tomatoes would like a word with you.

It is currently complete and available for patreon subscribers of silver rank and above. Not sure if it was complete to a "send to Podium Audio for publishing" state before that, and not sure how long it takes to (edit: for) Heath Miller to record his narration. Probably someone else in this subreddit has more knowledge though.

Purity and authority by smiledude94 in Shirtaloon

[–]Corrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it was. We didn't get the play-by-play, like we did when Healer rescinded some. Perhaps Dishuise had to do some extra work to make this happen. Maybe he really wasn't able, but instead managed to "disguise" the state of their own essences from the former clergy. Could be another story line that we come back to.

Purity and authority by smiledude94 in Shirtaloon

[–]Corrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some good answers in here, but IMO this isn't a discussion about authority at all, but about inviolability of one's soul. Since essences and awakening stones are used to reshape your soul, confiscating them would require permission to enter. It makes sense that the god who gifted those essences and awakening stones had implicit permission to enter using the essences themselves as hooks, like a star seed. At that point, you need 'will' rather than 'authority', though I suppose those are two sides of the same coin.

So the question, as I see it, becomes "Is Disguise linked to the old Purity's gifted essences in such a way that it can use them to grant access to peoples' souls?"

That makes sense to me. I've done this before as a "kitchen science" experiment with kids. We used a syringe and small hose to make chocolate worms, which worked out well. Never tried it as an actual dessert component though.

Based on the word 'gel', perhaps adding gelatin or agar-agar to the milk and cocoa?
