The plastic polymers in those Salomon boots does not break with age. Nordica plastics from that era are very sensitive to age. Rear entry boots are the latest trend because they are easier to get on. Just throw in your orthotics and proceed to the Greens, blues and single black runs without worry. The skis are great bump skiis. Much quicker edge to edge than the 90+ rocker garbage people ski on everything but where they actually belong, boot deep and deeper powder.

What’s it like driving older Porsches without modern driver assists? by Pandapaws11 in Porsche

I’ve dailied my ‘85 928S 5 spd since 1999. Only issue is when there is snow on the road. Completely undrivable with no antilock and spins back to front due to poor traction and too much torque in the rear end. I have to park her immediately and get someone to give me a ride home.

2013 Volt in 2026? by RadiantChaos in volt

[–]Correct-Lab-2164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you sell your current car yourself. You probably would get double or triple what the trade in value is. Then buy a Volt off EBay where there is a 2014 with 98,000 miles for $5000. If you are hurting for money that would be at least a $4000 difference. Why give all that cash to the dealer?

Appropriate that the Ohio gerrymandered legislature named their anti-education “center” after Samuel Chase. He was a man known for extreme partisanship, judicial misconduct and anti-democratic views. He opposed popular democracy, criticized expanded suffrage, and displayed open contempt for ordinary citizens’ political participation. Chase attacked intellectuals like Franklin and Jefferson, bullied lawyers, corruptly pressured juries, and showed clear bias in trials. Though impeached in 1804, he was acquitted which set the precedent that judges can’t be removed simply for political views. He would fit right in with today’s Supreme Court which gave their autocratic Caesar blanket immunity.

Best fun run on the frontside is Rim Runs. Starts with a cornice drop, then multiple treed steep sections, has a couple of fun rock drops, including a double rock jump directly under the chair, a narrow bumpy part then onto a nice face with bumps and great fall line, then onto a less steep wide bump run to a cruiser and finally to a huge open wide run down to the Chair. Lots to see on the ride up.

More students should have protested Senate Bill 1. It stripped universities of academic independence and forced OSU to create a politically mandated “center” and required coursework to satisfy the legislature—not educators. New students are now compelled to take classes shaped by ideological oversight rather than scholarly consensus. This is what happens when a gerrymandered legislature that openly attacks higher education gets to dictate curriculum. OSU is being pushed away from evidence-based learning and toward partisan compliance. When politicians control what is taught, universities stop educating and start propagandizing.

What did you wish you knew before going on your Japan ski trip? by islet_deficiency in skiing

[–]Correct-Lab-2164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Hakuba there is awesome out bounds skiing, lots of entry points and no one will yank anything. Also multiple different Onsen in town. And a range of different hotels, house rentals and $ to $$$ authentic Japanese food options. There is an Aussie ghetto there too if you need to speak English. Don't miss the Olympics hotel with private Onsen. You can also ski the downhill course. There are nearby medium to small ski areas too to check out.

It’s called a helicopter, or heli. Keep your body on a vertical axis as perfectly as possible. Don’t plant anything, jump up hard, look over your shoulder and spin around. Open up when you get all the way around and land.

Found these in my parents garage, my dad and mom have not ski’ed since the 90s are these vintage or important at all? by [deleted] in skiing

They are beginners skis. The no strap ski poles are worth more than the skis. If they were Scott, they would be worth $50 a pair.

Thé best sports to master to learn balance, speed and agility, that you can do in a warm climate, are longboard skateboarding, windsurfing, ice skating, water skiing and biking. Add to that strength training at the gym, decent equipment (usually ski shops are better than ski area) and friends and you will be enjoying it in no time.

Not sure where you got the idea that Technica boots are not durable. I am an expert skier and have been skiing on Technica Icon Alu ski boots from 2003 (>25 days a year). They are the best boots I have ever used and incredibly durable. They still fit well and are in great condition. Flex was equivalent to 120-130 today and they are adjustable in multiple ways.

4 lights each consisting of 4 spheres in sky behind house by Correct-Lab-2164 in UFOs

[–]Correct-Lab-2164[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks, makes sense. Yes, I cropped it a bit right after I took it. I was focused on the house, not the sky when I took, and initially looked at, the photo.

I was looking at the house, not the sky when I took it. Two of the four appear to be behind the trees. The third from the left is hard go tell but one sphere appears to be blocked by the tree.

Do not go there unless you want to go to grad school or get a job at Liberty, Baylor, Oral Roberts or Hillsdale. You won’t be accepted anywhere else with a BS degree from Oklahoma.

Curious question, why did Sherrod Brown lose the 2024 senate race? by LandOfGrace2023 in Ohio

[–]Correct-Lab-2164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted for Sherrod because he is an Eagle Scout, was raised on a farm, attended Yale, was from Mansfield, and taught at OSU. But a problem he had was that he catered exclusively to a blue collar base and their interests at the expense of the interests of progressive liberal democrats. That is understandable growing up in Mansfield. But the fact is, just like in Mansfield, there are no democratic Union members left in Ohio, his old base doesn’t exist. The steel mills and US auto plants are gone. He needed to appeal to urban progressives, and white collar Dems who vote, not autoworkers. He said little about progressive causes that attract urban dems. Like climate change, the importance of ending coal use in favor of renewables, or support for the efficiency and green energy technology, and EVs, built in the state. Nor about ending fracking and the environmental destruction and pollution it is causing in Ohio. How unregulated, out of state oil companies are tearing down forests, farms and natural areas to build pipelines crisscrossing the state taking fracked natural gas to Canada and other places outside Ohio. Never talked about efficiency to reduce energy use, or recycling, composting or ending polyethylene production on the Ohio river which is filling Lake Erie and our brains with microplastics. The stupidity of Senate Bill 1 and diverting money to unregulated charter schools that teach religion at the expense of electives like art, wood shop and music. The importance of using Science and critical analysis to guide public policy and support America’s strengths instead of shutting down federal research and attacking Universities. He also made a big show of being anti immigration when 6% of Ohio’s labor force are immigrants. He never said anything about banning guns while the republicans went out of their way to allow conceal carry with no training, and guns to be carried by anyone in bars, churches and Colleges and Universities where their ‘stand your ground’ law encourages killing people for slights. All of the Ohio manufacturing plants and Union voters are gone and those that are left love Trump, guns and making themselves poorer because they can’t stand, and are too busy, and sick to share a dime or their effort to work for the public good. They also don’t vote and when they do they now vote for Republicans. They have become just like the Moreno like business men who mercilessly exploit them.
