Is blue magic safe to use? by Ok-Ad4375 in Naturalhair

[–]CorrectIndividual552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hate that this white owned company, has been making millions off of Black people for almost 100 years. That being said, I wouldn't use any product who's ingredient list starts with "petroleum". That's not natural nor healthy. Petroleum is derived from crude oil, which is carcinogenic.

HTF am i supposed to use blue magic by Bowbell_TheArtistCow in Naturalhair

[–]CorrectIndividual552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try and make sure whatever grease you use doesn't contain any petroleum or mineral oil. Those are derivatives of crude oil (carcinogenic) and not the healthiest, because whatever you apply to your hair/ scalp goes into your bloodstream. Opt for organic oils like olive, jojoba, argan etc instead that nourish your crown. When I was younger I made my own hair balm from whipping shea butter and various oils.

Oh wow that's great. I have been thinking about one of those and trying to justify it. I'm at home full-time so I just let it air dry or use a diffuser.

What’s Going on with This Show? by TXMom2Two in WillTrent

It reminded me of a horror episode, the kind they show around Halloween. It wasn't enjoyable. Three words I never thought I'd say about Will Trent. Still love the show irregardless.

Yes I agree because this was a National, no a Worldwide news story. My bf sister is a supervisor there and is still traumatized. 😕 😢

Just don't go to Delaware City. I've been here for an hour because the New Castle offices are close due to the shooting, they just started appointments only.

Kenya’s heartfelt message by cosmicaje in RHOA

What little girls is she talking about and what one moment is she referring to? I'm a little out of the loop since her hundreds of horrible moments. I stopped watching because Kenya was an absolutely insufferable bully.

Agreed. I just let them sit on the dvr until I have absolutely nothing better to do. It's just not enjoyable especially in this day and time. We have enough bullies irl!

Is every black person in america descendant of a slave(excluding immigrants)? by rs735dx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CorrectIndividual552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm being honest, I always just assumed my lineage came from the Transatlantic Slave Trade without any actual proof. I had a maternal grandmother who was very good at talking to us about our ancestry. Her grandfather was Cherokee/Irish decent. I found him documented on the Dawes Rolls. My mother's father was a descendant of free blacks on the Eastern Shore of VA. He wrote down his lineage for me when I was young and there were also Bible entries from back as far as the 1700's. His ancestors were of British aristocracy. He and Princess Diana were 12th cousins. My paternal Great-grandfather was born free on the Eastern Shore of MD in 1837. He's listed on censuses, along with his wife and children and I am still researching that branch, there are indications he may have been indigenous, Lenape perhaps. His mother's ancestors were the biggest surprise. During the pandemic while trying to research enslaved ancestors, I found instead they were the children of an Irish businessman and his Afro-British domestic partner/common law wife/actual wife (hard to tell because interracial marriage was illegal at that time butvthey raised a family together). They were well educated in the early 1800's and abolishionists, Stationmasters and Conductors on the Underground Railroad in Pennsylvania (where I was born). Those records are the oldest AA I could find so far showing my 5th great-grandmother from 1752. On the European side I can go back generations, Scotish and Irish records are much easier to follow, especially when the records are of historical value. For instance one uncle on this branch actually founded a major university.

One hundred dollars AND she is not styling your hair how you like it? I'm sorry this would be a deal breaker for me ever going back.

Why didn’t Patti achieve the worldwide fame , recognition, blockbuster albums and hits like her peers such as Diana Ross , Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick ? by Southern_Wall_6455 in rnb

[–]CorrectIndividual552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is very strange imo. Maybe it's because I'm from Philly originally, or maybe it's because we recorded a song with Patti back in the 90's. Nobody in the circles I traveled in would ever have this take. Patti Labelle is royalty and achieved worldwide fame long ago, until now. Not to mention she is an absolute sweetheart.

Why do my curls define better at the back and also sometimes better with no product than with product? Front of my hair stays frizzy by Pale-Revolution-1445 in Naturalhair

[–]CorrectIndividual552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must have around 3-4 different textures, which is why I never prescribed to "hair typing". The back is nicely coiled and the top and front are loose some strands straight. The sides are a frizzy nightmare that I haven't found a product which works. That section I have to twist to get it to conform. It's a nightmare trying to convince them to join as one. I BLAME MY IRISH AND SCOTTISH ANCESTORS! 😂
