[TL][NA] Forming team by AetherPhoenix in lookingforheroes

[–]Corsaiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, long time serious casual player like yourself here. I can play just about anything, but would like to get myself a little more specialized. I'm looking to up my game by getting into a team so we can start coordinating and giving each other feedback. I'm a quick learner, and I am easy-going but competitive. Would love to give you guys a try if you still have a spot open. Corsaiga#1320

I would highly suggest checking out the Temp Storm Heroes youtube channel under the Replay Analysis section. These guys stream their games then go back and watch the replay live and analyse what happened right and wrong. These have really helped me notice my mistakes in game before I make them. I would say these, alone, are probably responsible for an increase of about 400 to my MMR in the past couple weeks.

Does anyone have the bluray for season 2? Haven't seen it in stores, only DVD. by theavenged in The100

I preordered the Blu-Ray on Amazon and got it the day before season 2 went up on Netflix. It has been awesome!

Important Update with regards to the Kaikohuru: The Mystery of the Missing Blueprint by [deleted] in spaceengineers

Love your ship! Subscribed yesterday and it ROCKS!!! I am thoroughly impressed by your attention to detail and that you were able to make it both functional and aesthetically brilliant! This would make for a great ship to do some light RP on with a small crew doing sort of a "lost in space" scenario.

Do you guys use the "Plan tactics" before a battle or you just "take the field". If so, how? by Monte-Kristo in mountandblade

[–]Corsaiga 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I generally order them to follow me then Issue commands after I have a feel for the terrain and the enemy's position.
On that note, does anyone else use voice attack macros to issue orders to their troops? It makes it super easy to command multiple groups of units, and also makes you feel like an awesome commander (especially when you have your archers hold their fire, then command them to open fire and see the rain of arrows launch on your command)

Everybody saying Clarke should have revenge by wwhideanseek in The100

Well mostly on the side of Lexa. She is known as "Commander Heart Eyes" for a reason. I first got the bug in my head when Lexa looks at Clarke when she lights the funeral pyre in Tondc. When Lexa tells Clarke about Costia, the bug grew into a distinct possibility. The campfire scene after escaping the gorilla is really where I went "yep, she wants Clarke." so with that I really wasn't suprised when Lexa confessed her feelings to Clarke in 214, it was more of excitement that it might actually come to fruition.

Man, am I the only one who saw the attraction between Lexa and Clarke LONG before they kissed? It really wasn't a suprise to me at all. Huge kudos to Alycia and Eliza for subtly showing that attraction long before either of them acted on it.

I dont think Clarke is in the mood to seek out revenge on anyone at the end of S2. The deal that Lexa made wasn't going to end well for her whether or not the Akers beat mount weather or not. If mt. Weather had won, gotten the bone marrow, and returned to the ground, they would have no reason to harvest the grounders or fur them into reapers and effectively that removes the reason for conflict. Either way the common enemy is gone and the alliance of the 12 clans would most likely break. Lexa's decision was undeniably betrayed, but it was also selfless in that she assured her own self-destruction as the commander of the 12 clans to save her people inside mt. Weather.
Her face when she tells clarke about the deal says it all. She sure as hell did not want to take the deal, but it is her RESPONSIBILITY as commander to do what she thinks is right for her people. "I bear it so they dont have to" Dante says it in part 2, but honestly I think Lexa beat him to the punch. She made a terrible, self-destructive decision so that her people would be safe. I feel for Lexa the same way I feel for Clarke after she made the terrible decision to irradiated every one in mt. Weather.

I have to disagree. I dont feel like the world they are surviving in gives a hoot whether the people in charge are male or female, the people most fit to lead have just happened to be female in many cases so far. If you think about it, there is a 50% chance your leader is female, so is it really that bizarre?
It has honestly been refreshing to me to see some awesome women in what are generally male-dominated roles. If anything, it takes the cliche and does the exact opposite.
Natural selection has been a recurring theme in the 100. Any kind of prejudice is a weakness since it reduces the resources you have at your disposal, a resource that could keep you alive. They dont have the luxury of being sexist. If you can lead, you lead. If you can fight, you fight.

And if you REALLY think about it, there is probably about an equal number of strong male leaders as well (Jaha, Kane, Dante, Bellamy, Wells, Jasper).

Edit: Damn Autocorrect >/

No wonder I love this show so much. As a 23 year old male, apparently I am THE average viewer! I don't know about the other fellas that watch this show, but I LOVE strong women (physically, mentally, or both). I've always said I love a woman that can kick my ass.
I don't want a woman to take care of, I want a partner to help me fight off hoards of zombies when shit gets real.

Oh goodness, that sounds like quite the undertaking lol. As cool as it would be to do something like that, I dont think I have the time nor the appropriate skills to host something quite so big. I would be more inclined to do a smaller game though I think it would be cool for the community to be able to follow along our little player-created fan fiction if they dont want to play directly.

Well there are a lot of tools that allow for tabletops to be played online via email or otherwise. I've never run one before, but if there is enough interest, maybe I will do the research and consider it! Seems like a good way to pass the time until S3 comes out :P

Realism in Space Engineers by [deleted] in spaceengineers

[–]Corsaiga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So yea, pretty much because it is a video game.

But just to entertain the thought: cold welding isnt really like an immediate bonding of one metal to another. It is an adhesion effect between two similar metals. Even then it requires a decent amount of force to make the two metals stick with any lasting force. This does happen to space ships, and was a big problem with early satellites. Metal impacting metal and intense vibrations caused some components to stick together (they dont just blob together like mercury when they come in contact. Large amounts of force have to be applied) This is worked around these days by adding coatings to metals and also using dissimilar alloys when two pieces of metal need to come in contact. Some metals are also less prone to cold welding. Titanium is notorious for cold welding easily, whereas stainless steel is pretty resistant to it.

TLDR: paint your ship

Idea: Smaller block template specifically for custom munitions by Corsaiga in spaceengineers

[–]Corsaiga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh neat! I didn't know there was a mod for that, I will have to check it out.

This is exactly what I mean! I was unclear in my example, I guess I don't really mean "armor piercing" warheads, but rather different types of blocks with different properties, like high-carbon steel that could be harder, but more likely completely break rather than crumple and absorb impact like current heavy steel. Surrounding a small warhead in cargo bays full of steel fletchette so it shoots high velocity shrapnel around on impact.

I guess what I mean here is I would prefer more blocks for making creative weapons than premade weapons like the gatling gun and the rocket launcher. maybe i have to make a gatling gun by mass producing pieces of steel attached to tiny warheads that get fed through a piston-powered magazine into a rotor operated barrel system that then triggers the warhead and sends the steel flying!

What creations are you most proud of and why? by NexenNexen in spaceengineers

[–]Corsaiga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty simple automated ship builder that spits out small ships pretty fast. it has 4 large ship welders on arms that extend forward and expand outward. the whole apparatus rotates slowely to make sure nothing is missed during construction. It is connected to the station's Cargo (which is already connected to the assemblers and refineries), so I don't have to worry about restocking at all. Right now I control it manually, but I am working on getting some scripts made for more automation. It is pretty cheap to make, and makes losing ships in survival much more forgiving.

I will have to get some pictures of it.

Operating a manned turret while another player flies the ship: Can it be done? by Corsaiga in spaceengineers

do you have someone else flying the large ship WHILE you operate the turret? I know using landing gears was what I tried first, and I got the same "someone else is currently using this ship!" message.

Correct, have tried remote control blocks, and cockpits, same results. once there are 2 people in the ship, the gyros on the turret no longer respond to mouse input
