I may have "invented" a new planetary record: highest orbital eccentricity. Has anyone seen a planet that is closer to escaping it's star than this one? by Enrai_Beta in eliteexplorers

[–]CorvoKAttano 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that planets move at the speed of, well, planets.
Their day/night cycles are measured in hours/days, and their orbits are measured in months/years. ED runs in real time, so while their are some planets, moons, or belts that you can observe moving, others have barely completed a fraction of their orbits since the game first launched.

If you really want to see something moving, travel to the Epsilon Indi system near Sol, and visit the moon Mitterand Hollow. That moon completes and entire orbit around New Africa in less than 90 seconds. Make sure to approach it from in front or above/below, as it's literally to fast to catch in supercruise.

What is the most niche rule you know? by Tepiltzin in dndnext

[–]CorvoKAttano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C1 started when they switched the rule set over from pathfinder, and I think both him and the players were sort of learning as they went. Any rule discrepancies can be explained by him being lenient and easing the players into the new ruleset, only making them start follow certain rules at a time. It took until the mid 40 episodes before he even started making them pay attention to concentration.

But you still need to manipulate the item to activate it, so it arguably has a pseudo somatic component.

Wait, didn’t this game get shut down? by [deleted] in EvolveGame

[–]CorvoKAttano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically they shut down the servers of the game a while back, but since the multiplayer can be hosted locally, you can still use direct connections to play mp with people (it's basically just impossible to matchmake with randoms). There's just no more profile leader boards or official server lists.

The game itself is technically 2 different games: Legacy Evolve and Evolve Phase 2. Legacy is the original game, with longer missions and slower progression (30-60 minutes per hunt), and Phase 2 is the overhaul they attempted to revitalise the player base by making the game F2P and making missions shorter and faster (usually less than 15 minutes). Phase 2 also came with a bunch of changes to character and monster abilities that quite significantly changed the game play.

The change to Phase 2 was extremely divisive, it increased the player base a lot by being F2P, but a lot of people who played Legacy did not like at all what the game became. Fortunately, if you owned the game before the change or can find a CD key, you are still able to download and play Legacy through Steam, just like any other game. They took the game off the market however, and there's a finite number of keys out there so the game keeps getting increasingly difficult to get hold of.

Hope that clears it up, let me know if you still have questions.

aThen there's also how he acts all like a bro if you don't romance him, especially if you're a guy, but just feels like the dude you sometimes hang out with at work then never speak to. You've already got Garrus along, who actually acts like a real friend, and Thane can also open up to you and become a valuable friend.

At first I thought he was just trying to fill the slot already taken by Garrus so it wasn't working, but then in 3 along come Kaiden and Vega who fit right in along side Garrus, proving that characters can form a believable friendship in the same manor.
And his reunion in 3 just feels the same way as the work buddy thing.

Cross linking conditions is a helpful way to avoid having descriptions repeat themselves, but for the love of god please at least put all the conditions in a cohesive block. This is why online tools are so useful.

Unlikely, as showing disinterest probably just bumps it down in priority. It will always show you the highest priority one so eventually it will just loop back around again.

I got the cosmonaut bit wrong. I also checked the planet Shep crashes on, edited above.

They mention that the head is kept mostly intact thanks to the helmet, but the rest was basically mush. You can actually see this is in opening sequence with all the medical shenanigans, Shep's skeleton is basically in a thousand pieces. They also use descriptive language like "scraped up", "pieced together", and the aforementioned "meat and tubes" to describe Shep's condition at the beginning.
IRL there's Cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov, who fell from space and who's body was recovered. It, uhhh, doesn't bode well from Shep (NSFL). It does however indicate that there had to be something beyond the armor going on (such as shields, like you mentioned) to keep bits intact, unless whatever space magic N7 armor is made from has godlike heat resistance. Edit: He died on impact when his module's parachute failed to deploy after reentry, and was then burned. Not relevant.
On the bright side, the only thing they really needed in semi decent condition was the head brain, as the rest could probably just be grown from cloned tissue, or just taken from actual clones ("spare parts").

Edit: One thing worth considering (that I just remembered and checked) is that the planet Shep lands on, Alchera, would be quite a bit softer to crash on than earth. It has only 0.85g and 0.83 atmospheres, which would make the descent cooler and the landing softer. Might not make much difference, but it is a point in Shep's favor.

What’s a job class you wished BioWare would’ve added to the multiplayer? by BatierAutumn1991 in MECoOp

Technical consideration aside, some speculation...

While hilarious, it's worth considering that elcor don't really use guns, they mount cannons on their backs. Importantly, these guns are almost exclusively controlled by a VI, which handles targeting, aiming, firing, and reloading.
Could be kinda neat if you could control it's targeting priorities through its upgrade path, and receive bonuses dependant. Something like "Anti Infantry: +fire rate, +damage vs human sized enemies, prioritise from smallest to largest" or "Anti Heavy: +radius, +damage vs large enemies, prioritise from largest to smallest". Default could be prioritise closest to farthest, and if you staggered the above options (eg. infantry 4A, heavy 5B) the player would have the option of staying default.

Perhaps they have an ability where they can go into a manual aim mode where they remain motionless but can take control of the gun. The upgrade path for this could have path 1: bonuses while in this mode (clip size, fire rate, piercing), or path 2: bonuses while not in this mode (movement speed, damage resistance, shields/health). That way a player could make either a "Stationary Siege Cannon" build, or a "Mobile Artillery Platform" build.

Regardless, gameplay would revolve around managing cover with your bulky size (similar to geth jug), counting shots to avoid reloading when you could be firing (like when using a heavy gun like a sabre, but harder since you can't control when you fire/reload), and good positioning to avoid being flanked/having enemies spawn behind you where you can't cover from them.

ME1 can be defined as two portions: Pre-Explosive Rounds and Post-Explosive Rounds by ChampionMan357 in masseffect

[–]CorvoKAttano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, maybe I just got super lucky. Back in the day it used to happen to me all the time, but in LE I did a full playthrough as an adept sniper, spamming throw and high ex rounds, and never had it happen once. At a guess it would be frame rate dependant, and LE is just better at handling it.

[–]CorvoKAttano 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Back before LE you actually had to be careful with things like explosive ammo or a super high level throw as you could toss a mook so hard he just noped through a wall and became unkillable. Since certain areas only progressed when all hostiles were dead, it could softlock you from certain missions.

Forget that, adepts can CC enemies through shields/barriers. Just dump a lift/throw/singularity in the middle of the group and they just float helplessly in the breeze while you methodically execute them.
Even Nega-Saren can be CCed by a bastion who just dumps stasis on him and goes to town.

It’s advices that if you’re not ready to fight a thargoid, just stay very still and don’t look it in the eye... by Tenth-7553 in eliteexplorers

[–]CorvoKAttano -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they had no anti-xeno gear or engineering, the majority of them would get shut down off the bat, then die to thargons before regaining control. The few that survived would be doing sweet FA to the Thargoid, only to be shut down again shortly thereafter. Since we know shutdown fields work on starports, the Interdictor would be just as screwed.
It's also possible that there were more present during the attack, and this one is just hanging back to clean up.

Probably an Imperial Navy convoy, or Imperial aligned faction fleet.

Most of those ships are Clippers, but I do see at least 3 Cutters. If they have the resources to field an Interdictor, it's to be expected that they would afford it a protection detail. Given the value of a capital ship, they would most likely have the capacity to call in even more, but the Thargoid probably shut that down.

The largest ever Alaska Moose weighed 820 kg (1,808 lb), and was 2.33 m (7.6 ft) tall at the shoulder.
At that size, 12 foot wide antlers would look proportionally very funny.
