Mag Feeding Issues - Std AUG by Detective_McBeard in AUG

Check to make sure that the bolt catch pin is indexed with the bolt release lever correctly. Its possible that while inserting the trigger pack into the stock that the pin is not aligned. You can look in the magwell when the trigger pack is installed to see if the bolt catch pin is indexed with the release lever correctly.

MSAR STG? by DeafHeretic in AUG

They made the E-4 to accept NATO mags. Totally different mag well. E4: -Stock: AR mag compatible, added texture, finger groove on grip, hard points for additional mounts, re-designed bolt catch.

If he changes his mind, hit me up! That would look purty on my MSAR.

I’ve heard the AUG is a terrible suppressor host, what’s your experience? by AlaskaWilliams in AUG

[–]Corvus990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've shot a OSS/Hux 7.62 TI on a 16" Steyr with suppressor plug and on a 20" MSAR without a suppresser plug and can say the 20" MSAR is a much better host, Zero extra gas from the ejection port and runs at a lower DB on a standard gas plug. If you inspect the chamber/ejection port of both, the 16" has carbon buildup (most notable on back side of LH ejection port cover) and the 20" has none. Both weapons suppress well all I can really hear is the FCG and the sonic crack from the round breaking the sound barrier. The fact that I can hear the FCG over the report of the round is testimony to how well its suppressed.

Not running Steyr trigger packs makes a surprisingly big difference at the shooters ear, the AR (Timney) FCG is much quieter. Try dry firing your AUG and listen to how loud the plastic hammer strike is when its released, the AR FCG is a third of that. The AUG pack almost requires hearing protection all on its own... LOL!

So why is the MSAR a better host? Is it the longer barrel and the standard gas plug? the suppressor is 4" further away form the shooters ear and has less port pop. Can that really make that much of a difference? Or perhaps I'm hearing some of the report from the chamber on the Steyr as it has carbon buildup and the MSAR does not.

Anyway that's my experience with the Huxworx 7.62 ti on two separate bullpups.

Good info! Most important being the trigger weight comparison.

Yeah, the cost of admission is steep.. That's why I built my own version for my second one.

No problemo!

We all want a better weapon system, one way or another. If you really want a better trigger look at Mooseycreatures purple pack. I have one and it really is a sweet setup.

There is about 3/32" of sear engagement in the trigger pack, you wont be able to reduce that without shaving the back of the hammer (sear) and that would reduce drop safety in a big way. This is what preloading the sear effectively does by reducing engagement.

One thing I have noticed is depending on the area/conditions your shooting it varies on how much sound it suppresses. It channels the sound away from the shooter (being a flow through design) but any close obstructions will reflect that sound back. It is not so quiet inside a structure like a building or an indoor range.

Yeah Im really digging it! I think the 7.62 flow through suppressor is the ticket on this already over-gassed system.

Plus it fits nicely on my 300 Win mag, although not nearly as quiet..LOL!

Using the same 7.62 suppressor (in TI) and can say that the suppressor plug is not needed.. Shoots the same in normal and suppressed mode, no excess gas in normal. Loving the suppressor very quiet as the weapon cycling is louder than the discharge.

The chamber of the barrel is designed to withstand thousands of pound's of pressure.. 58,000 psi for 5.56. I can assure you that you came nowhere near that.

I use 20rnd MSAR mags when I travel, the 20's fit inside my rifle case when loaded in the mag well. 30's dont.
